What do you guys think are Eric Berry's chances of winning the Jim Thope award for the best defensive back in college football? Is there anybody else who could possibly beat him out for it?

He should be a finalist at the least. He would probably be a shoe in on a great team.

#1 candidate for Thorpe, he passed M.Junkins of tUOS and T.Mays of 'SC a few weeks ago, his to lose

He's easily the best DB in the nation. And also I would argue he's the defensive player in the nation. E.Berry is quite possibly the best football player out there. If we allowed him to get some touches on punt returns then this wouldn't even be an argument.

I've seen him firsthand and Jenkins has played lights out this year too so I see it coming down to him and Berry. OSU's defense has been a disappointment so far but none of that is Malcolm's fault.

Let's get serious. Berry is the more dynamic DB by far. Just ask LSU receivers which one is better.

Eric Berry is the most dynamic, explosive football player in america on either side of the ball. ive seen just about everybody play this year and he is by the far best player in the country with the ball in his hands. maclin,crabtree,harvin, all take a back seat to berry. i was glad to hear fulmer mention kickoff returns as well for berry here soon. as far as the thorpe goes, the best db besides berry i have seen is number 2 from oklahoma,(cant remember his name, think hes a freshman and he is a corner) and the savage kid from auburn ( out for the year in summer practice) this kid from oklahoma is gonna be a beast. anybody got a name on him and who else he was recruited by??

You're going a bit far. They don't take a backseat but they are all on the same level.

But Alphonso Smith of Wake Forest plays really good ball.

Asher Allen is a good player for Georgia. Also like Reshad Jones form Georgia.

D.J. Moore of Vandy is pretty good.

The best freshman out there plays for Florida though; Janoris Jenkins will be a big-time player for them.

But Alphonso Smith of Wake Forest plays really good ball.

Asher Allen is a good player for Georgia. Also like Reshad Jones form Georgia.

D.J. Moore of Vandy is pretty good.

The best freshman out there plays for Florida though; Janoris Jenkins will be a big-time player for them.


will hill might be the best db on florida, they have a young athletic secondary like us also. im lookin at pro potential also. height, size , speed, coverage, run support, DYNAMICS... Berry is the best player in college football, 99% of players need someone to get them the ball, berry goes and gets the ball and then makes something happen. in the last 5-10 years, him and a.peterson are the hardest running players i have seen with the ball. full speed after the first step with the extra gear and run with determination

There have been explosive playmakers in the last 5-10 years that rival these guys:

D. Mcfadden fits that mold.

Andre Johnson WR from the U.

Willis Mcgahee had broken the mold before he was injured.

As far as pro potential lets see:

Alphonso Smith- Great nickel back or number 2 corner needs to add strength.

The Georgia players will be good NFL players they play at very physical football. I can see Reshad Jones (with his athleticism and potential)being a future first rounder if he continues to develop.

D.J. Moore will be a future first rounder with his talent and natural playmaking skills. He just needs to put on about ten pounds.
