Thompson-Boling Arena is...

Rain Man here seems to disagree with the official attendance total brought to you by people that were counting folks at the door, so apparently it was over 50% empty.
that figure is tickets sold. Not butts in seats. In the overhead views there wasnt one section that was completely full besides the student section and 3 or 4 lower bowl sections.

Were you there? Well, I was, and it was a believable 15-17k. There were two section with ahrdly no one in them, the rest were pretty full. So, 10k? Way off therel.

Ok, I know what 17k looks like and that wasnt even close. That was more towards 10k.
That's absurd. Way more than that. Are you sure you were there? I would like to find anyone at the game who would agree with you.

people watchin on tv had a better view. The upper bowl was completely empty behind the baskets, it was so embarassing. They shoulda put up the curtain.

By intense, do you mean rich, white, unemployed, and annoying.

Glad to see the Tommy Bowl will never be Cameron.

i'm not sure what was meant by your comment. TBA will never be as loud or as crazy as cameron either. just because the arena doesnt' set up for it. guess people just have to find ways to trash duke at every point. either way, The Bowling Alley will never be as exciting a place to play ball as somewhere like Cameron or the Palestra.

So you are bitching about attendance and yet you weren't there?

I would go if I lived there. It's just really hard to go from Nashville to Knoxville for a 9pm game during the week.

Blaker is wrong here, the stat put by UT is not tickets sold, but people in the Arena. I know this is true, and the attendance figures have to get better. Everyone neeeds to drop whatever is going on in their lives and fill the place for Kentucky and Florida. We owe it to Bruce, and the great institution that is the University of Tennessee.

Really hope the boys don't overlook them. Living in Nashville, I've been hearing about them non-stop and even keeping up with them a little, and they are dominating on the road. Unless its really loud, we wont have an advantage over them.

No need to be redundant, Bobby.

just out of curiousity bobby, how do you know that's true? if it is, UT is the only team i've heard of that does it that way. I can't imagine they do it that way for neyland as numerous times I have been to a "sold out, packed house, official attendance game" only to have the two seats next to me not used.

I've heard from UT workers that it is computed that way.

not trying to call you out, but from my experiences working events and what not, they get an official number and then find ways to inflate it. I've never worked w/ UT specifically, but I know several minor and major league baseball teams that do it, NFL teams do it, and I know Old Dominion does it for their events. I've been told from sources that everyone does it. like i said, not trying to start an argument, just what i've seen and heard, and for that matter taught in my sports management classes.
