As if it wasn't already obvious, but Dooley is going to HAVE to finish this class of as strong as we all think. It's one thing to sell these kids on rebuilding when your losing real close ball games but it's another when your getting blown out week in week out (Granted IMHO w/ a healthy Bray & Hunter this is a completely different season).

Next year is ultimately going to be Dooleys judgement season, as long as this team stays healthy they should be able to compete each week & win 8+ ball games.

If Dooley can find a way to finish this class off w/..

Autry
Sentimore
Patterson
Howard
Elston
Diggs
Meredith
A stud RB & a OL

While at the same time keeping our current stud commits committed then we will be set up for a very exciting 2012-2013. At this point I'm more worried about finishing this class off strong & keeping it together than I am the W's & L's.

Not sure we will get both a RB and an OL. I hope we can get a RB with some speed. We have bruisers coming in but we need gamechanging ability.

if he can hold this class together next year will be the first year we aren't bringing a knife to a gun fight in a long time.

We really need Autry, Sentimore, & Patterson b/c they could come in & help a lot early.

Our starting 22 next season could/should compete w/ anyone in the SEC. Problem is we will still be very young in depth, although it will be talented depth.

You forgot JJ and Herman. I agree this class has got to be able to play quick and play well. Dear lord I felt sorry for the kids in the 2nd half tonight. You can really tell that AJ, Randolph and Kurt are hittin the wall hard.

IMHO I don't think he hold this class together :(. If he does though we won't be any better. The current players we have will still be here and they are getting worse game by game. The incoming freshman will offer nothing because Dooley can just use the excuse that we are still really young and they will need time to develope. Hate being a negavol. My opinions are increasing making a turn for the worse. Hope I'm wrong and screw eating crow, I will eat poo. GBO though!!!!!!!!

I 100% agree with this.

UT ran into a firestorm tonight. With our injuries, lack of depth, woes in the secondary, and Arkansas getting healthy, the writing was on the wall for a beatdown. We're not good without Bray, Hunter, Lathers, and Janzen. With those guys healthy and with our schedule, this still looked like a 7-5 or 6-6 team. Without those guys, we still have a chance to get to 6-6. The game this week against Vanderbilt is critical for our program. Bray will likely be back, which will help tremendously. Vanderbilt's read-option will be difficult to matchup with, especially if Rodgers is throwing accurate passes downfield. Our DTs (Malik and Couch) have been playing at a very high level. We need a great atmosphere and rowdy crowd Saturday night in Neyland.

Good points, IMO.

I am skeptical that we will see that crowd that is needed.

I know it is more than the injuries, but a lot of people (well, the reasonable ones) knew that 7-5 or 6-6 was realistic, and that was before the injuries.

I hope Bray can be sharp enough without the reps.

The youth/talent argument is out the window this week and next. It's gut check time. Time to go out there and take out your frustrations of the season on Vandy and KY.

It's also important to look at our losses:

@ Florida - Hunter tears ACL; Florida has a healthy Brantley/Demps/Rainey
vs. Georgia - tied at half; fell apart 2nd half; Bray breaks thumb
vs. LSU - #1 team in country with Simms at QB (down 17-7 at half w/ 2 Simms INTs)
@ Bama - #2 team in country with Simms at QB (tied at half)
vs. USCe - Worley's first start; had a chance to win
@ Ark - Worley's first road start; blown out

All of our losses are to teams that are currently a lot better than UT. We have 16 total juniors and seniors on scholarship...it's not realistic to expect us to win against top-tier SEC teams. With Bray and Hunter, we beat a pretty good Cincy team 45-23. We're definitely not where we should be as a program, but we're not that far away either.

Wow 4 of those are possible top 10 teams. Who even plays a schedule like this beside us.

It's like whatever can go wrong, will go wrong w/ this program right now.

& in all of those losses it seems like we have been right on the verge of making big plays or stops to change the outcome but it doesnt go our way.

more like 5 are now top 10 teams. schedule is ridiculous. we have the hardest according to the ncaa. believe it or not. thats why next year we play like 5 teams that are as good as cooke county hs.

Yet people were complaining when we replaced UNC on the schedule with an easy opponent.
