I think this year will be really tough recruiting wise. We lost the relationships from most of the guys we were going after. It looks like this staff is a hard working group and I see better things in 14 but starting from zero is still a tough road to hoe.

We are in it for 3 5* guys right now including the number 1 RB and number 2 DL. I do think it will end up better. I don't think we crack the top 10, but definitely will have a solid class. DB's, WR's look solid. We have a shot at game breakers in RB, WR, Safety and DL right now. (Green, North, Bell, Lawson). Landing 2 out of those 4 would make a good class all 4 would put us in position for 2014 to be a special year. Add Johnson at LB, Crayton at DT, and a surprise like a Foster or Levenberry at LB and we would all be singing this staffs praises as we crack the top 4 in SEC

Some LB's prospects could be in the 2 deep this year and potentially 3 year starters begining in 2014

As it is every year with a coaching change, I think giving Butch a little time to develope some relationships with some guys is key. that make take a bit... I like what he has done so far, But Dooley came up big with the amount of time he had to hold the ''Kiffin'' class together. Not sure Butch will pull in 2 5*star guys... but I will give give him a slight pass this year if he cant crack the top 10-15. Gonna take some time guys... I wasnt a big fan when he was hired, I have grown to ''like'' the hire now. He seems like a guy that is already bleeding Orange, getting the UT brand out there... and kids seem to like the guy. Thats a great start...

I don't have a good feeling about this class either. It looks like it's a possibility we lose Carr and I just don't know how many other guys we are that solid on. I would love to think we get Green, Lawson, North, Bell, and Johnson but the fact is we could just as easily miss on these guys as we land them. I would LOVE to get all 5 but that seems like a very long shot. Getting 2 or 3 of the 5 would be a good day in my opinion. I too have always been optimistic in the past but this year I'm being much more of a nega VOL!

Im thinking we wont even sign 25 this year but there will be some big timers in there.

Not only does Coach Jones have as short time to build positive relationships with recruits, he also has a short time to repair some of the negative experiences Dooley created with recruits. Its all the clean up work that makes me nervous about how signing day turns out for us.

There sure are a lot of posters singing "hooked on a feeling." I agree - good feelings are easier to summon up than realistic thoughts.

If your feelings are correct all will be good in Hooterville. If they are not, then what will you say? The same BS you said with Dools? Hope CBJ can get it done for the sake of mental sanity around here. The last 5 years have taken a toll on the brainwaves.

If you go by history being the great predictor of future behavior there will be about 18 3* with 4-6 4*. That will get them about #25 or so, which will be ranked 8-10 in the SEC. And then the excuses and proclamations will happen about being a true VFL, he was left a mess, etc., etc. Maybe he can live up to your hype and pull out a better class than that.

Even if this years class isn't great he has already proved to me that he is better than Dooley, just from the quotes from recruits.

I have said on many of these recruiting threads that I predict somewhere between #19-24 and about #8 in the SEC I still think the same.

I hope Bleacher Report is wrong...They have Butch Jones ranked last [#14] in the SEC as a recruiter!
