This year

Man I know and I have to remember that we have been spoiled by watching Kirby and Saban but we’ve got to start beating the teams that we are supposed to beat or we will never sniff a championship. With our starting corners, we beat Georgia but this is year 5 for him. We need to be taking care of business. So if next year we lose to Georgia Alabama Florida, where’s your optimism?
Good news is we don't play UGA or UF next season. Unless in the playoffs.

These next 2 games will determine Coach Heupel’s future. Win and he will have more cushion. If not next year will be ugly. JMO

If the Vols win tonight and beat Vandy - Heupel doesn’t change anything.

If the Vols lose one or both, I doubt he changes anything either. He is a good not great coach.

If he doesn’t change some things within his staff and his methods and approach, he has reached his high point.

If he losses the next 2 games, his seat will be warm for sure.
In whose eyes, the fans? Haven’t you learned by now that regular Joe fans have no say whatsoever in a coach’s “hot seat”? Neither you nor the novice OP have any say. Until Danny White decides it’s warm, it ain’t. The only way it happens is if there are consistent losses, attendance and donations drop off or the big money boosters say it’s time. (Not necessarily in that order.) From what I can tell, none of those have happened yet.

Simply put yes. Do you intend on losing is the swamp forever “just because we have for 20 years” or do you prefer a coach that can shake that?

And I’m glad you brought up Vandy. We should never lose to Vandy. I don’t care if they’re back to back natty winners. That is a team full of 3 star talent and the coach is making them look like 5 stars. They are over achieving. It’s what elite coaches do- more with less. I hope one day you’ll want that for UT and not be okay with losing “just because we have for 20 years”.
Seems like we have a coach that can shake that.

Coach Heupel is so far from the hot seat and the results of the next 2 games will not change that a bit.

The same people screaming about the Heupel hot seat will be the same ones wringing their hands when they learn about the programs contacting him to be their next head coach.
True. That was a legions of the miserable comment.

Major College Football Program Loses 19 Commits After Firing Head Coach

Only the lowest of football IQs would ever suggest we fire Heupel.

Great win. I’ll gladly take any W any day of the week. It was a fairly cleanly played game as well which was just as exciting for me. I’m very critical of Heup for sloppy games so it was good to see. I know some will go ahead and crown him coach of the century because of the win against this 3 win FL team. Let’s send Vandy home with an L before we get to carried away.

It’s funny how many of our “fans” have all the answers to coaching this football program, but, don’t even realize the commonly known fact that we don’t play Florida or Georgia next year and only play them every other year going forward.

For knowing so much, they don’t know ****.

Nah, terrible take. Though I never thought we’d lose out to be in that situation, if we did I believe you’re wrong.

Ain’t no way we drop our last 3 to end at 7-5 and there not be some tough questions and tough talks behind closed doors. That would’ve meant ending the season with losses at a 3 win Florida that obviously quit, and losing to Vandy at home. And before you say it, I don’t care what they’re ranked- losing to Vandy at home is unacceptable.

Obviously we didn’t end up in that predicament, but I don’t understand how you can think that wouldn’t have been a complete failure of the year. I’m not saying he gets fired or should, but had that happened I’m sure some tight expectations would’ve been laid out for next year.

If CJH loses to Florida and candy in year 5 there is no way anybody could say with a straight face that this guy deserves to be the head coach of a university that has 100k plus seated stadium and gozillian dollar facilities. If he loses the two games, his seat should be so hot next season that he would think his hemorrhoids are the size of grapefruits.
nonsense..pick another team because you are not all vol my friend!

Nope, my opinion because I care about the progress of our football team. Accepting mediocrity will get us right back to the losing era that we had to endure.

As far as a Vol? 😆 You can’t be more Vol than I unless you took snaps. I’ve walked in Vol walk, I’ve ran through the T and spent several seasons giving my all for the Tennessee Volunteers back in the early 2000s.

Last night CJH showed that he is capable of not letting an injury battered team get beat by another injury battered team in their house and that’s what CJH has to prove is to be able to win the games that he is supposed to with a few others that he’s not.

Why? Bc they disagree with you?
Give me a break. You LotM are no different. You lose your crap when someone even questions you.

Some doofuss in this thread, on the first page is already doing it.

If I say most fans are fine with loses to Vandy and Florida that automatically means I am fine with it to some of these crackbabies. They're so angry and miserable inside they want to drag everyone else down with them.

Its a sickness. Get help.

Well unfortunately for you beating unranked teams is what a university like Tn is supposed to do. It’s kind of expected. To go any further than that you have to start beating those ranked teams you speak of. It’s kind of how athletics works. You beat the good teams to be the better team.

You saying we’re just gonna be okay with never beating a top 10 team? Weird take.
Love it when people put words in my mouth. I think you have forgotten the 10's of years before Heupel got here. We weren't even close. He beat a Saban led #3 ranked bama team the second year he was here. He's beat Florida 3 out of the last 4 years., When was the last time TN did that? Be careful for what you wish for! Have you seen this year's recruiting class? 🤪 🤪 🤪
