Unpopular take, but he’s not wrong, IYAM. I realize expressing what can be perceived as negativity is frowned upon ‘round these parts, and I’m pulling for him, but if we go 7-5 regular season, the rumblings will intensify, and that’s a fact, Jack. These next 2 games will determine Coach Heupel’s future. Win and he will have more cushion. If not next year will be ugly. JMO
Especially when you consider the number of people on here who claim they would rather not make the playoffs and win a top bowl game than make the playoffs and get embarrassed. Those same people swear that we have regressed this year because we won't make the playoffs but, at the same time, we are not worthy of being a playoff team and would get embarrassed again if we did make the playoffs. Its kind of crazy to think if we win out and win our bowl game, we will end up with the exact same record as last year at 10-3
The pumpers won’t like it but you’re correct. We need the monkey of our back in Gainesville. These next 2 games will determine Coach Heupel’s future. Win and he will have more cushion. If not next year will be ugly. JMO
The difference between 9-3 (or 10-3) and 7-5 (or 7-6) cannot be overlooked. It is massive! There is no scenario where Heupel is not the coach for the 2026 season (he's not getting offered a job someplace better than TN). However, if he finishes with two losses to a bad, head coach-less FL team and then a home loss to Vandy -- he will absolutely be on the hot seat next year. And all of you that are wanting to give him a lifetime contract because of the mess he inherited 5 years ago, would not be so vocal about defending him.Coach Heupel is so far from the hot seat and the results of the next 2 games will not change that a bit.
The same people screaming about the Heupel hot seat will be the same ones wringing their hands when they learn about the programs contacting him to be their next head coach.
So....... if we lose to Florida in the swamp, where we have not won in 20 years. And we lose to a team with a Heisman candidate as QB and in the top 15...Huepel is on the hot seat. These next 2 games will determine Coach Heupel’s future. Win and he will have more cushion. If not next year will be ugly. JMO
Fans can put him on the hot seat right now. That will not change the equity he has within UT's ad. There is virtually nothing that could happen this year that will place him anywhere near the hot seat next season, regardless of what the fans think. The difference between 9-3 (or 10-3) and 7-5 (or 7-6) cannot be overlooked. For the record, I do not want a coaching change at all. It would be at best a 50-50 gamble on an upgrade. But the remaining two football games are huge going into 2026.
The only thing the administration cares about is future $ projections.Fans can put him on the hot seat right now. That will not change the equity he has within UT's ad. Simply put yes. Do you intend on losing is the swamp forever “just because we have for 20 years” or do you prefer a coach that can shake that?So....... if we lose to Florida in the swamp, where we have not won in 20 years.
