They faced Dobbs last year and put a whopping on us. Dobbs threw multiple interceptions, I believe. I believe he is improved this year, but last year was a nightmare game.

I've said this so many times.. I overreacted to the worst loss I've experienced in my life as a Tennessee fan. I'm 18, born in 1996, so we've been losing to Florida since football started to matter to me and this year was the one I put the most emotion in to.

Christian, you are, most certainly, forgiven. I'm 69 and have been living and dying with our Vols since 1956; Johnny Majors & Co. I've brought the flags to half-mast over a devastating loss more times than I want to count. I love and appreciate your passion and honesty. It's young, true, loyal fans like yourself that makes an old VFL feel really good about passing the baton when that time arrives. GO VOLS!!!

I was there and put a ton of hope and emotion into it. I'm 26, was brought up believing fulmer was te greatest college coach of all and as soon as I had the patience to watch whole games all I saw was decline. We all hate losing to Florida and I think that it sucks more than losing to Bama to some of the younger fans. You gotta keep the faith though man. We had gained a bad rep in the past of being arse hole fans and it was true. Just keep calm and let UGA fans be jerks.

Dobbs has put on 30 lbs of muscle which is a pretty big deal. He's now had a complete off-season and 7 games of non-mop up experience. He did throw some picks and fumbled. In fact, he struggled some with picks last year with a 2 to 6 TD/INT ratio. He's reversed that to 7/2 this year. He's making much better decisions now than in his first start.

I was actually at that game last year. The MU fans around me were thoroughly impressed with Dobbs in spite of the 2 INT's. He was also 26 for 42 (62%) for 240 yds with some drops- notably an easy TD to Smith. He added another 45 on the ground.

He's a better runner. He's a better passer. He's a MUCH better game manager... and perhaps most important of all... he has playmakers around him. Versus Mizzou last year he had two real options for receivers- Pig and North. Neal didn't bring what Hurd does. UT has several WR's and a couple of TE's that can have a major impact on the game this year.

Things that favor us:

(1) This is the same Missouri team that lost to Indiana (2) We are at Neyland (3) Our team has confidence (4) Senior Day (5) bUTch said he might try to suit up Cecil Cherry for this game, even though he is only here for an Official Visit. Maybe ref's won't catch it.

Things not in our favor:

(1) A.J. is out. (2) Randolph is out for the 1st half (3) Crowder is out. Crowder being out is sorta not a big thing because his replacement is a good player but he is not accustomed to making the calls for the offense.
Rudy, I beg to differ. I agree with all your astute points, but, Crowder being out will be critical, especially, against this front seven. As you say, his replacement is good; he's going to need to be very good tomorrow night and, hopefully, he will.

I'm not that young... and would rather lose to Bama or anyone else a million times more than UF. Deep-seeded loathing from my young days growing up in a tourist town frequented by "better than you" people from Florida.

They also were at home and have lost about 20 significant contributors from that team. This one has nothing to do with last yr. it was Dobbs first start.

Hmmm...
11 MISSOURI over *Tennessee
Late Score Forecast:
MISSOURI 35 - *Tennessee 24
"Maturing UT has strung together SEC wins for the first time since 2010. But, we can’t pass up grabbing a FG with
more seasoned Mizzou, which controls its own destiny in its quest to repeat as the SEC East Division champ.
Clearly, the Tigers played their most complete game of the year in Mizzou’s 34-27 upset victory at talented Texas
A&M. Columbia sources report that Tiger coaches devoted extra practice time with the offensive linemen in order
to help them better finish their blocks. That plan paid immediate rewards, with the potent RB tandem of Russell
Hansbrough & Marcus Murphy combining for 287 YR vs. the Aggies. And with Tigers’ efficient soph QB Maty Mauk
benefiting from the healthy return of key 6-3 sr. WR Darius White (missed previous 2 tilts; 6 grabs vs. A&M), the
nicely-balanced Mizzou attack continues to thrive vs. a green Vol defense. Sure, Vols’ soph QB Josh Dobbs has
been en fuego vs. the highly-pliable defenses of South Carolina (31 ppg) & Kentucky (30 ppg). But Mr. Dobbs
figures to cool off vs. the tenacious Tiger stop unit (20 ppg; 3.3 ypc), spearheaded by the hard-charging bookend
DEs Markus Golden & Shane Ray, who’ve combined for 20 sacks TY. Hence, Mizzou notches its 10th straight win/
cover as a visitor...........Vols have covered last 3 and 4 of last 5 TY.
Pinkel, however, has won and covered last two years vs. UT, and is 12-1 vs.
spread last 13 as visitor!...............

Missouri 32 - TENNESSEE 26—Cognizant that mobile 6-3 soph Joshua
Dobbs has ignited the Vol attack. But still must endorse superior Mizzou, which
controls its fate in the SEC East. Look for Tigers’ productive QB Maty Mauk
(accounted for 277 yds. in LY’s meeting) to (again) take advantage of a young
UT defense. Road-lovin’ Mizzou has covered last 9 as a visitor."

This will be a tough game and we shouldn't underestimate the loss of AJ and Crowder. The Dobbs' factor however will overcome our problems. His leadership will calm the team and bring us a victory. The last two games will continue to let us appreciate just how good Joshua will be in the future. Mistakes don't affect him, he comes back like a terminator and just makes plays. Enjoy the show, we've got a special QB again.

They played the worst D in the SEC by far with them missing their best DL and starting QB... and won by 7 points.

Columbia sources report that Tiger coaches devoted extra practice time with the offensive linemen in order
to help them better finish their blocks. That plan paid immediate rewards, with the potent RB tandem of Russell
Hansbrough & Marcus Murphy combining for 287 YR vs. the Aggies.
Everyone with a pulse whose played TAM has been able to run the ball. They gave up 481 yds of O to Rice... RICE!
Efficient? Since when? He's completing less than 50% of his passes vs the SEC. He has a 5/6 TD to INT ration against the SEC. His last two games have come against UK and TAM. He completed 55% of his passes for 164 yds and 2 TD's vs UK. Dobbs just lit them up for 297 in 3 qtrs with 3 TD's and a 70% completion rate. Mauk has played better against two terrible D's in his last two games.... better than awful still might not be very good.

Mauk is "efficient" for playing "better" vs two bad D's but Dobbs' success is somehow tainted by playing two bad D's and producing better numbers?

Mauk's "improvement" has occurred against UK and TAM who allows even more ppg to SEC opponents that USCe.

Speaking of "bookend" DE's... Ray and Golden have combined for 18, not 20 sacks. Burnett and Maggitt have combined for 17. ALL of Burnett's and Maggitt's have come against their TOUGHER SEC slate. Only 9 of the MU combo's have come against the SEC.

Golden only has 2.5 sacks vs SEC competition with 2 of those against TAM.

Hence, Mizzou notches its 10th straight win/
cover as a visitor...........Vols have covered last 3 and 4 of last 5 TY.
Hence, the selective and shallow use of statistics by this writer... is pretty stupid. Mizzou may win... but the abuse of numbers by this guy is pretty profound.
Pinkel, however, has won and covered last two years vs. UT, and is 12-1 vs.
spread last 13 as visitor!...............
Interesting... but not much bearing on this particular game.

Missouri 32 - TENNESSEE 26—Cognizant that mobile 6-3 soph Joshua
Dobbs has ignited the Vol attack. But still must endorse superior Mizzou, which
controls its fate in the SEC East.
:eek:lol::eek:lol: Superior? I guess that's been proven by how they've dominated that tough schedule they've played, huh?
Look for Tigers’ productive QB Maty Mauk
(accounted for 277 yds. in LY’s meeting) to (again) take advantage of a young
UT defense. Road-lovin’ Mizzou has covered last 9 as a visitor."
Washington, Lucas, and DGB are gone. MU's current receivers do not even closely compare in talent or productivity. Mauk productive?

In 3 games including Bama who is far better than any D Mauk has faced, Dobbs has passed for 790 yds completing 62% of his passes with 7 TD's against 2 INT's. All of this against SEC competition.

Mauk vs SEC competition has played 6 games and passed for 806 yds. He's completing a whopping 47% of his passes with 5 TD's against 6 INT's.

Who is GS? Mauk's momma?

Basically what I am pointing out here is that there's no way a rational person can look at the statistics chosen by this writer and conclude that Mizzou should win. Dobbs has produced far better than Mauk. UT's DE's have played better vs the SEC than Mizzou's.

There may be other reasons for MU to win... but these aren't good ones.

Missouri has a pretty good team, plays very well on the road, has two stout pass-rushing DEs, and we are missing starters at two KEY positions--center and MLB. I think UT fans have already put this one in the win column--and it is a game we seriously need to win--but I sense a struggle.

Not sure any sensible fan is just putting this in the win column. This will be one of our toughest games and defense's this yr. They are a gritty and well coached team. We will be very fortunate to come out with a win tomor night. No way any knowledgeable, true fan will see this as an automatic win. We are 0-2 against Mizzou since they joined the conference. But this would be a huge win because it gets us bowl eligible, gets us a top 20 win at home in primetime game. Not to mention whatever recruits we have there and ones at home watching. A chance at an 8-5 season with a potential bowl win is a huge step moving forward. These SR's deserve it for everything they have been through. Then the biggest benefit is the extra 15 or so practice's that these very young team will benefit greatly from. I think we beat Vandy and get bowl eligible but getting that Sat Night on a primetime ESPN game would be absolutely huge.

I will be there in section E, but I think it will be a tough game and could go either way. Missouri doesn't have their record for no reason and we have been hot lately. It should be interesting.

I'm extremely nervous about this one. I've already gone by the ABC store and will begin drinking pretty heavily in about an hour.

Depends on your prospective. Probably tough for Butch and the boys...I'll be laid up on the sofa in front of the big screen with cold beer and sandwiches:loco:

I just hope no one flips out if this is an "L" with AJ Crowder Sanders and Randolph aout against the East leaders.
Unless Butch botches something at the end of the game, a close loss would not be something to cry about. It will be even more impressive if they win.
And this team will be next years Miss State (in terms of good QB and RB and decent defense, NOT #1 ranking lol).

the big thing that concerns me is AJ being out. Not just his play but his leadership. he pushes Dobbs and keeps the D focused. I hope that someone pumps up the D and let Dobbs and the offense know they got there back. Trust me AJ presence will be missed more on the sideline than on the field

I have no doubt Maggitt will take care of business in his absence.
