Of these, I would LOVE to get a rematch with UNC in Nashville. Playing Georgia Tech or Miami in the Music City Bowl would be fun games as well. I really really don't want to play Southern Miss. Bo-ring.

music city vs miami would be nice, although living an hour and a half from birmingham, the compass bowl would be better for me lol

Unless the tourism revenue takes a hit by taking a team closer to home, I just don't see how the Music City Bowl passes us up after we sold the place out last year.

In any event, we won't be playing Miami...they're declining a bowl this year to get a head start on their NCAA punishment.

ESPN reported few days ago that Miami is not going to bowl game . It is a self punishment from university from all of things that came out over the summer.

I'd rather avoid NC State since we have to open with them next season.

Wake Forest would be ok...we haven't played them since '85. And we haven't played Virginia since that epic Sugar Bowl rally after the '90 season (although they may be destined for a better bowl after knocking off FSU last week).

Not only sold it out but it was the largest crowd ever for the stadium. Even larger than when the Titans play Manning and the Colts or the Steelers!

I hope we don't have to play NC State or Georgia Tech. State because we play them next year and Tech becuase I've never seen a Tennessee team handle the triple option well. However, a bowl would be the perfect time to play GA Tech since we'll have extra time to prepare.

MCB is consistent with the new Tennessee football. Short trip from Knoxville... irrelevant bowl that wouldn't have made the national radar if not for the controversial ending last year.

Maybe something screwed up will happen again this year, to help the Vols get some national coverage.

We've really lower our expectations in the post-Fulmer era, which is ironic considering high expectations is exactly what got him fired.

HELL NO to playing GT! Their option would not be pleasant.

HELL YES to UNC. Although it's a different staff over there.

A 6-6 tn team will fall no further than music city period.

The only question is whether the gator scoops up TN if UF loses to FL st and also posts a 6-6 record.

My dream scenario is still playing Georgia Tech. We'll kick the sh!t out of them, and people will assume it's because we're good and not because their offense is really easy to scheme against in bowls*. We need some belief right now.

*they have two offensive touchdowns in their last three bowl games. They were favorites in two of those three.

Tennessee has actually defended the outside(triple) option well under the current DC...I think the read option stuff (2 back,pistol..etc)gives them more trouble.

People keep saying this, and it's the opposite of true. I can't really blame people for saying this, because it looks like it might be true, but I'd like for it to stop. Have yourself a gander at the box scores of every bowl game Paul Johnson has coached at Tech.

Miami has decided to miss the 2011 bowl game. It is self-imposed due to NCAA violations that they committed earlier.

I think we'd handle them, as well. We have the speed, even though we suck.

Success with the option in the ACC and success with it against an SEC school are vastly different.

I'd like to play Virginia, though.

I'm all in for a rematch with UNC at the MCB.

This is the best case scenario for the Vols in my opinion.

Now, on the other hand, knowing had badly UT got robbed last year, if you are UNC, do you REALLY want to play UT in the same bowl this year?

I mean, knowing they were better last year than they are this year, and knowing they were the beneficiary of UT being robbed last year?

Just thinking out loud ...

Tech has had success against Georgia, but they do it on a short week. The option has success because nobody's used to play it. When you have a month to scheme it, it's one of the best matchups for any semi-competent defense.

I think Virginia would be a sterner test, but they have less name recognition than the Jackets right now, and I'd rather get a win that people are paying attention to (for program momentum) than have a tough test against a better but underrated team.

The only reason I want to play UVA is because I have a particular disdain for them.

Plus Dooley would be facing his Alma Mater.
