Lost in all of the discussions about all of the back and forth as to when to announce is the reality of the coaches convention.

Randy Shannon may get to make even more hires.

If that is the case, I would anticipate that LT will be retained but that TJ will need to be out there hustling to find a job.

If Tennessee does not snatch up Billy Napier, he will be gone, and that is a darn shame.

I heard the Knoxville media on radio today talking about Dooley hiring an NFL guy. Idiots...

Saban and Dooley both work their assistants more, and usually for less money, than an NFL guy can get. NFL guys do not have to suck up to 17 or 18 year olds.

Randy Shannon
Michael Barrow
Lance Thompson...

Dooley has said before that you do not have to have a team exclusively of superstars, but if you add Napier to Chaney on the offensive side, a few guys and their light resumes start to stand out a good bit...

CTJ is a Dooley guy. I find it hard to believe Dooley would let him go. Recruits like him. Croom's mom talks highly of him. I think RS at least gives him a chance before going to Dooley asking to replace him. In the end, I think RS only brings one guy with him. He has the luxury of going for a DL coach or a LB coach because LT can coach either.

I wouldn't count out anything. Shannon and Thompson, one gets a 3 or 4 year deal, the other can't get an extension of his current deal. Might not play so well. After NSD, nothing is off the table, and as for the local pundits talking NFL, Dooley is the one who fed them that line at his PC.

Like recruiting and the fax lady, it ain't over til the deal is signed, same with coaches, agents gonna play the game. IF something happens on Monday, that might or might not be the end game. Life as a Vol fan, love it or leave it.

CTJ is a solid recruiter and CDD/CRS will either keep him with the DB's or move him to Special Teams and TE's.

Terry Joseph is a top notch recruiter. The kids and their parents love the man. He is a true asset to this staff in that regards.

Don't be surprised if Joseph is coaching tight ends and special teams next year.

I agree on the job CTJ is doing. Cannot believe posters are trashing him just because he is tight with CDD. He should be, CDD is the HC.

He took a less than top SEC quality secondary and kept them competitive despite starting freshmen, PW being hurt and out of position, Brewer being hurt, having to use Teague and juco's, losing JJ before the season even starts, etc. - yet the D finished #28 on a losing record team. C'mon. Nobody should trash talk his recruiting coordinator work - he is praised by most of the recruits and their families that speak with the media. Doing it again, while selling a losing record program. You find a place for coaches like him.
