Like Florida and Bama used to be, Georgia is now our kryptonite. The albatross tied around our neck. The one monkey we can't get off our backs. Yeah, it hurt that we lost. I was yelling all kinds of obscenities when Gilbert missed. It frustrated me when Heupel decided to play it safe and elected to go for the Field Goal instead of taking a risk and going for it on fourth down when we were playing well offensively and had the momentum. We score, we are up 42-30, and that'd likely been the ball game. And the clock mismanagement drove me nuts as well.

Anyway, Georgia is the top team in the SEC and is the team used as the measuring stick for greatness in the conference. We almost did beat them. And we've done so without several of our key defensive players. I think that Georgia is still in our heads right now, and that at times, some of our guys in key moments tensed up. But Georgia played loose and we, unfortunately, let them back in the game.

I knew that after Gilbert missed that kick that we'd lose in OT. You could tell our guys were crestfallen and deflated while the Georgia players were fired up. They really came at us in OT. We almost beat them. The Georgia Bulldogs still have more talent than we do. But we're getting there. We got the Alabama and Florida monkeys off our backs. I feel like in a year or two that we will finally have enough to where we finally get the Georgia monkey off our backs.

At the end of the day if the kicker makes the field goal no one is complaining about coaching. The kicker lost the game period
No, Gilbert actually didn't cost us the game. It should have never come down to a FG. We had numerous chances to put GA away early, but never took advantage of it. I would blame the False Start and not getting the kick lined up before blaming it on Max. Yes,Gilbert very easily could have made the FG, but we should have put it away long before then. The double digit penalties, giving up a 4th and 6 for a 28 yard TD, then allowing them to get 2pt conversation is a reason we lost.

The game was lost in the second quarter when we did not score even a field goal
Exactly! 100%}.....And when we gave up a 4th and 6 for a TD and allowed the 2 pt conversion. Not adding to our lead was another.. Missing a FG was the least of the reasons that we lost.

BS, you make the kick game over. I bet the players feel that way even if they don't say it publicly

Wrong.

If any blame is to go around, I'd put it on the defense as a unit.

Blaming a kicker for one play is a moronic take.
Your opinion doesn't make you right it's just the way you think. But as a former athlete myself it's the kickers fault and I would bet the house most of the team feels that way

I’ve been physically and mentally depleted for the last two weeks after that Georgia game, the highs the lows. What a rollercoaster.

You would be the type of teammate I'd hate to play with. My opinion is logical. You've had a history of biased and warped views on this board. I'll take my chances on being right.

So if Max made the kick, he won the game? The team had no part of it?

It's a team game.

The game is 60 minutes long. Had the DB covered the receiver on 4th and 6. Had the D covered the bubble screen correctly. Had the offense not disappeared in the 2nd quarter….there are many more plays that could have been made.
Your take is 💩

Your small minded way of thinking is bothering me. Just let it go man. We lost

Resorting to insults when your point, or your opinion, is proven wrong shows a severe lack of maturity and logic.

By your logic, Kamal Hadden won the game for TN vs Florida in 2022. He intercepted the final Florida pass to seal the game.

Or Chase mcGrath beat Alabama in 2022. Hooker, Hyatt (5 TDs) had nothing to do with it.

Grow up my man and let it go. Blaming one kid is an asinine approach.

I've just been bummed out about the game. We battled Georgia toe to toe for 58 minutes. We had the ball with 3 timeouts around midfield 2 minutes to go. Our offense looked like it was getting more push on the D line and our wide receivers had been getting open all day. Kirby had melted down into an incoherent wild man jumping and screaming on the sideline. WE HAD THEM!

I just knew we were going to score a touchdown...then coach decided to play for a long field goal.😒. I don't know why. WHY! The field goal was the BACKUP plan if we didn't score a touchdown. We could always have kicked it with about a 60-40 chance, but why not just seal the deal? Score and take their glory.

Coach, I am so glad you are here. You've done a tremendous job bringing the program back and you deserve credit, but that last 2 minutes hurt a LOT. In the future, show a little more confidence in the team. Give them a chance to get the job done. This is the BIG one that got away. All we can do now is suck it up and move on (and learn to never pull the horns in again).
Probably spoke for a ton of Vol fans including me. I appreciate CJH getting us back into the hunt for a NC but this game we had the talent to beat Georgia and just squandered it after that fumble recovery. I hope CJH learns from this and the team can use it to get better.

Cause he coached not to lose instead of going for the win in that moment and it cost us a monumental victory. Look we were underdogs at home where we rarely lose so you go for the jugular there when you get the fumble on their side of the field with under 9 minutes to play. We score a TD there and go up 42-30 then we win the game. But still Heup turtled up again on the last drive of the game not getting closer to help our kicker. He mismanaged the situation and let Gilbert overthink the moment ahd he choked. Yes it was a make able kick not a chip shot but still any decent SEC kicker can make it from that distance.
Do I think he think he went conservative, yes
But would you be on here bitching about a win or a loss if he doesn’t go for 4 down
The defense won this guy
