This team will make the SECCG...

Is the O-line going to be able to protect Bray? - They didnt last year
Is the O-line going to be able open holes for poole to run through? - Our running game was non existant
Is Bray going to make better decisons instead of just throwing the ball up for grabs? I hope so.

Are the linebackers going to improve? They are a very weak unit right now
Are we going to get constant pressure on the QB? who knows.
Is Janzen Jackson going to play this year?

A lot of questions need to be answered before anyone says we are going to the SEC champion game. And fellas 2012 is not going to be much better if we dont get better recruiting and development this year.

I'll tell ya,I more worried about Carolina than i am Florida this year.I also think both will be very beatable. We could end up in the champgame but we would have to fall into it like in '07.We need sc,uga and fla to beat up on each other.
We had 2 games last year that should have been wins. That would've put us at 8-5 instead of 6-7. Yet many here don't even expect us to have any improvement beyond that this year.

It's like this fanbase is suffering from battered wife syndrome or something. This team should be better/deeper than last year's team in every position, except LB perhaps. Even at DT, with Couch, Walls, Jackson and Hughes...we could have a surprisingly good unit there. Couldn't hope to say that last year.

We finally have some continuity for the first time in a few years, and an offensive line that should be much improved over what we had the past few years.

But again, it's the mere fact that we have 2 WR's that every team in the country would be happy with just one of them. If Milton can step it up by the fall and play at an SEC caliber level, this offense will be able to dictate to defenses, even Bama's, with overwhelming size and speed.

Having a QB like Bray getting them the ball makes it easy to see that SEC defenses are in for a rough ride. I would not want to be an opposing DC having to defend a QB like Bray with three big body WR's and Hunter and Rodger's talent/speed. That is a mismatch waiting to happen for any defense.

I think Muschamp will be a good coach as well but the fact remains he has never been a head coach before.I think that is a pretty big deal.

You know I wonder about this. Did he know Weiss? What's the background there? Could we see some issues with that staff, or do they gel wonderfully and tear it up with the talent they have? It's going to be interesting.

I think next year is UT's year to run ish, but I could see it happening this year. Off the top of my head just for now, this is how I see it playing out.

1. UT/SC
2. UT/SC
3. UGA
4. UF
5. UK
6. Vandy

Don't act like bray is manning. I like the up side but he has to get better than just throwing it up for grabs. We do have receivers to go get it but there are some good defensive backs in the sec that will go get it to.

Too early to say we'll be the SECCs and I think it's unlikely this year. We're just going to be too young, still, this year. However, I do think 2012 is the year when things start to take a turn. We really do have a lot of good young talent. Our offense is the real deal and we're missing a few key players, but we have the potential to be dynamic. I mean we have some legit NFL players on offense. This years class is going to help the defense tremendously. They're just young right now and still have to develop, but by the time they're Jr's they're going to be some good ball players. I think the '11 class is going to have a strong impact. There is a lot of good solid talent in that class. I honestly believe if the Sr's from last year were Jr's and were going to be Sr's this year with the class we got this year, we would be a completely different team. I think we would have been the 8-5 team if not better and the games we lost by a few things like UF and USCe could have ended different simply due to some quality depth. My concern this year is we're still young and have to continue to develop and I don't care what anybody says, we're losing some clutch Sr's. I love what the future looks like though.

Obviously, I hope we end up on top, but I think if Bray can continue to develop and improve his decision making, then UT will be in good shape. UT still maybe a year away, but I liked what I saw out of the Vols last year. Could very easily have won 9 games (LSU, SC, UNC).

Lets be honest here. Our team could get to 10 wins next year. Heck if we won every game last year when the clock hit zero the first time, we would have had 8 wins. On the other hand, we could possibly only be .500 going into the bowl season too. This team can beat UF in their backyard, but could also lose to Cincy at home. Too many questions right now. If Bray and the offense put up 40 points a game, we can beat anybody. But if teams stop the pass and we have to run the ball, can our line create enough room? Next year is completely up to the offense. I think the defense will be able to keep us in every game and give us a chance. No matter what, next year will be a fun year, but I think we will have to suffer through the growing pains one more year. 8-5 with a bowl win is my prediction.

I see us being at least a year from seriously contending in the East. That said, we can win all of our non-conference games and Vandy and Kentucky. With a baseline of 6 wins thus established, I can see us picking off one or two more games against any of these teams: Fla., LSU, Ga, or SC. My bet would be Fla. and SC of that group. I don't see us beating Bama or Ark. on the road this season.

An 8 win season and another good recruiting class would be good progress indeed toward a challenge for the SEC East in 2012 and possibly the entire conference title too.:loco:

I just want to be in Neyland watching football.

Oh yes nothing and I mean nothing like game day and tailgating. Then its time to walk inside the stadium. Yea love it.

If the OL plays to potential then they have a shot. Milton is not critical. UT needs a guy who converts 3rd and medium... These names are ahead of Milton for that role- Rogers, Rogers, Arnett, Dallas.

I love the optimism and I feel it for the offense.

I just don't think we have a championship caliber defense.

We will lose 3 or 4 games due to our lack of depth at DE and our lack of experience at LB.

:good!: I agree with this quote 100%. We have a few question marks on offense, not alot to worry about but it will cost a game or two to quality teams. Our defense just doesn't have many proven players. At least 3 losses and we beat a florida georgia or bama. We will get crushed some week we make too many mistakes, and we will lose one that we should've won. I can see us becoming better as the year goes by, and heck yea on 2012!!! GO VOLS!!!!

I like the enthusiasm but Tyler Bray isn't even in the Top 5 of best quarterbacks in the country.

I know what the OP is saying though. Tyler has 3 years left, huge upside and IMO will be one of the top 5 QB next year, if not by the end of this year!!

I know we are inexperienced on both sides of the ball, but what better way to grow up then start a lot of games in the SEC as true freshmen?!?! Some of our O-line, QB and WR that are sophomores have more experience than a lot of juniors in the country! And Jaq Smith is gonna be an absolute stud beast!! Do we go to Atlanta in Dec? I have no idea but I like our chances more than I have in a long time!!!! GBO!!!

I hate to do it but my pick would be lsu vs usc.

No way in hell does S.Carolina go to the SECC game again. Im hoping UT and its very possible. But I think this is the year UGA gets it turned around and they play LSU for the SECC. Hope Im wrong would love for it ti be TN vs LSU and thats very realistic. The east is wide open for the taking this year.

You are absolutely right in all that you have said, this team does have a good opportunity to be special next year, but you will not find many on this board that will agree with you. Too many folks on here think they know more than they really do, but that's what you have to expect on a fan site like this. You won't be able to change the minds of people who say they are realist, but we will be able too look forward to a great football year! Go Vols!
