This Team Was Not Ready to Play Football!

Reminder that Virginia tech lost to us 24-45 at the beginning of the season two years ago and got better as the year went on . No reason that we can’t do the same . Virginia Tech went 10-4 on the season and the ap ranked them 16th nationally . I know that won’t be the case here but we can possibly get it together to get to 6 wins .

An example. Give Scott Satterfield a summer camp with his guys and App State will play with anyone in the country. Give Pruitt a summer camp and we have a bust against a big 12 17th ranked WV - Really??????
I don't think you won the award on individual points. This was more a career achievement for the totality of the post.

We will get better. Have you seen Pruitts past game presser? He revealed a lot of info into why the OL struggled. He talked about the D and how he and his staff have to do a better job. Didntbtrow any players under the bus and took responsibility.

if this guy doesn't work out, then its on fulmer.....we hired bill battle, an alabama guy...he had one good season.........fulmer better put in some serious effort himself to make sure this guy ain't a big bust, or else he go downs as a bad AD hire

Its pretty simple OP UWV has a great offensive football team with a Heisman candidate QB. In order to stay in this one our DL had to get pressure without blitzing. They couldn't. Our OL had to run block so we could run clock. They couldn't consistently enough. We don't know how good UWV is for sure but they looked really good Saturday; way better on D than anyone expected. Still if a few plays go the Vols way they were still in it. That blocked punt could just as easily been a scoop and score as a 35 yard roll out. JG could have hit the screen pass he overthrew that would have been a sure TD someone I think Wolf pan caked the only defender who had a shot at making the play. And we could have scored on the last drive. Woulda Coulda Shoulda I know but this Vol team got sliced up by the best offense they'll see all year. They didn't get steam rolled or manhandled. Lets see if they can get their legs under them with the next two cupcakes and see how they fare aganst the Gators.

The difference is Satterfield's App State guys have been doing this for years. This isn't their first rodeo going into a big time opponents house and giving them a fit. The culture at App State is also far different than what its been around our program for the last 10 years. They beat Michigan, won 3 straight FCS Championships, and then won their Conference in Year 1 in FBS. App State's kids know how to win and the expectation and belief is they can compete with anybody. Like others have mentioned on here, we've got so many kids left on this team that don't know how to Win or believe they can. That culture doesn't get changed in one summer camp. It takes a couple of wins, big or small, to gain that confidence. This is the year we needed to open against ETSU and build some confidence, not West Virginia (who is a great team by the way) on a national stage.

Typically these kids will play their heart out in the first game for a first year head coach. These guys came out completely flat, slow, and very little emotion. The O line missed way to many easy assignments throughout the game. The DBs looked pitiful. This team did not look well coached in any way shape or form. I expected a loss but expected a competitive game which this game was not even close to a competitive game. I just cannot believe how unprepared this team was. Pruitt has used his "mulligan". Get this team prepared for the 4th week.

BINGO !!! This absolutely nailed it. The team was not mentally prepared to play. The looked shell shocked starting this game. There's no excuse for that. Pruv-itt and his staff better up their game going forward. No one expects miracles, but we expect better than that embarrassing crap!

Very Good Points. Pruitt will have about 4 years to change the culture.

First time posting, long time Vol fan....30+ years watching and rooting for the orange and white. Bottom line....this is gonna be a long @ss year. Pruitt did not inherit superstars, nor can he fix this mess in one camp. He’s going to have to literally beat the Butch Jones out of them. They still have bad habits on game day. Yes, they looked rough at times. But I will say we actually moved the ball and put 2 in the end zone, which is better than last year. JG showed marked improvement and we have a decent running game. O line will get better the more game time they have together. D line and linebackers.....I don’t know. I honestly think our talent level just ain’t there right now. Kongbo just isn’t good and in my opinion, neither is Warrior. Nobody really showed anything on defense. Tackling was bad and obviously our DBs need work.....but I think the freshmen will get better as the year progresses. Bama, UGA, Auburn....gonna be ugly. The only thing i wished I woulda saw is a little bit of fire and aggression....I honestly thought Pruitt would have them fired up. Just didn’t see it...and not much leadership on the field, especially on D. But.....with all that said, I do think we will improve as the season rolls on. It was one game. On to the next.

Please send your resume over to Fulmer ASAP! Sounds like you know how to get things turned around! Please list all your coaching positions over the years and how many Championship Rings you have. Now I’m pumped again for the season!o_Oo_Oo_O

The ones upset are those who think UT will win 9 or 10 games every year

In reality, they will overachieve just to get 6 or 7 win........ This year

I keep expecting our fanbase to stop with the unrealistic expectations after 10 years of sucking. I should know better by now.

He might wanna prepare for the 2nd game first. Then, no matter the outcome, the 3rd game after that. Then...wait for it...wait for it.... The 4th!!!

Everyone - All across the board expected this game to be competitive. It was clearly not a competitive game. In my opinion, this game falls squarely on the shoulders of Pruitt. Granted its one game, in a long season, but a bad omen. WV an elite team??? Oh how we have fallen. LOL
Uncle love, I bet we will be ready for Georgia...💥👍
