So don't expect too much of them early on. I didn't get to watch the game last night, but when I looked at the ESPN gamecast, I saw that 7 out of our 11 players that saw action yesterday were first-year players. That's when it really hit me how young we are. I won't judge DT off of this game, because VCU is experienced and has been one of the best mid major teams in the country for several years now. I think our young guys will have their growing pains, but we will hopefully get to see them blossom as the season plays out. I'm especially excited to see more of Detrick Mostella, that kid is a gamer. Much of my judgment of DT is going to stem from how improved the younguns are at the end of the year from where they are now. I'm reserving judgment for now, but I'm still very excited to see how the season pans out. To anyone going overboard already: It's obvious you learned NOTHING from the Cuonzo Martin fiasco. The loss doesn't bother me too much, and I'll be feeling peachy in a few hours when CBJ whips dat UK azz. Just my 2 cents. GO VOLS

The remarkable thing is that Tyndall has taken this bunch and they have progressed as far as they have in a couple of months practicing. He needs to get his rotation set so guys can get comfortable in what they need to do. Guys need to play mostly the same position so they can learn their assignments totally. In the end last nights game came down to the fact that they hit 11 threes to our four. They had 29 turnovers and steals versus our 27. We played them even everywhere except they shot the ball fabulously from the three point line especially early in the game.
I don't know how the final rotation will end up but I think my opinion would be:

PG- Punter with Chiles backup 8 to 10 minutes. I think Baulkman could also be the backup if Chiles can't handle it.
SG- Mostella and Baulkman
WF- Richardson and Hubbs 8 minutes or so
C- Woodson and Carmichael
PF-Moore and McGhee

I think Reese has to get a lot better than he has shown to be in the rotation. Owens is to skinny we could give him a few minutes a game so he don't get discouraged. We really should have redshirted him.

We lost to UTEP early last year...same guys mehing this loss to a ranked team, defended Zo's coaching of an EXPERIENCED team then.

He walked into a mess. We lost players players and then lost part of the recruiting class, although they were average at best. Glad Martin is gone but it's gonna take a little while.

The difference in the two coaches will be how the team adjusts in the next couple of games. Leadership will emerge with this young team, and it might be a beautiful thing to watch!

Punter needs to be the PG for the first team. Josh was trying to do way to much last night. I saw at one point Tyndall yelling at him to slow down. Another item to be pointed out is Tyndall's ability to adjust. If we could have limited the turnovers we could have won that game last night. Turnovers, rebounding, defending the pick and roll, and half court offense will be the main focus going forward with this team. I'm encouraged nonetheless.

On a side note, I really like Mostella and McGhee, and if we go small like we did last night, I'd like to see McGhee start over Reese. I think we have some really good looking freshman. That's something to be excited about going forward.

Does anyone know why Willie Carmichael played so little? The way CDT sounded early-on, Willie was pushing for a starting spot. Based on last night, he's barely in the rotation. Seems to me that we could have used him in last night's game.

Agree. Hopefully we will get back to what we was under Pearl someday.

OP my thoughts also. I think this team shows flashes of being really good. Eventually. Point guard a must find. And rebounding has to get better out of the zone. The press looks great at times. I'm also excited to watch the growth.

Seems like he's been passed up by McGhee.
