That is a start in changing the mindset and culture at Tennessee to get our program back to being competitive with the top mix. The teams we beat during this win streak are not real good teams but winning helps a coach, staff, and players to develop a winning program. This past decade has been the worst in Tennessee history regarding football and our football program is trending up. We need a better qb and solidify the other positions to make the next step - competing with the top four tier teams in the sec east and sec.

It was supposed to be our weak spot and turned out to be our bright spot. If we can just get our offense going we will really be able to compete. You can tell the team culture did a 180 with regards to fighting the whole game. I think Jennings was the catalyst for that, and he is owed a debt of gratitude for showing his teammates how to have a winning mentality.

If the circumstances were to play out the same way, there is no way a Butch coached team would have won this. Not sure what that says about the future, but it can’t be a negative.
