I am sick with dissapointment now, we could have easily won the game, I could taste it. I am tempted to bash Ainge for his late game performance but I am sure he is even more down about it than we are. Our team played their hearts out this game and the last half of our season. I hope the Vol Nation at large supports this team for what they accomplished this year.

Phillip Fulmer will be our coach for a couple of more years now at least so all the fans need to support the Vols and be positive about our future even if you dont like the current coaching staff. I am not saying anyone is wrong or right for wanting a new staff, I am just saying since we will definately be keeping Fulmer now it would be best for the overall direction of the program if the fans were upbeat and positive. It can only help recruiting.

I believe that we will be much improved next year, even with a new quarterback, cough, cough. Sorry, I dont like to bash the players either. I believe Crompton will be an excellent qb who will give our offense a different dimension. I also believe our offensive line and defense will be improved.

I dont want to sound like one of those fans that always yell, "next year, next year", but I really believe we have good years ahead of us. I believe we are turning the corner, we just need at least a solid recruiting class this year to compliment last years excellent class.

Go Vols,

We lose four or five defensive linemen. I wouldn't be surprised if Jerod Mayo takes his chances with the draft. We'll also lose a starter in our already razor thin secondary. Two starters on the offensive line and our two best tight ends are gone. Our QB is gone.

Go Vols,

Unfortunately, Florida improves, too.

besides the uncerainty of the qb poistion, i think we improve alot next season. the d-line rotates men constantly so saying we lost the entire line is a little bit overdramatic.

Georgia has improved much, much, much more over the course of this season than UT has.

Probably, but I still think they don't deserve the hype they are getting. I say UF wins the East next year.

We lose two underacheiving defensive ends who haven't done much in their career. Mitchell most famous play is against AFA to save the game... The DTs coming back give us some hope with Bolden, Fisher, and Williams.

Hefney has had the worst season ever for a preseason all-american and he topped it off with another crappy performance tonight.

Our O-line has plenty of depth and we played without Eric Young for a good chunk of the year. Tight ends won't be an issue since we don't use them enough and we have some young talent there.

And Ainge - no discussion needed.

But either way it doesn't matter - Georgia and Florida both return better teams.

IMO, we will be better next year simply by not having Ainge and Hefney on the team. I think the future is very bright. Lots on young talent and lots of redshirt talent coming back. Unless the coaching staff coaches them down below their full potential, we should be good to go

I don't think the losses are going to impact them that much. What O-Line starters? We only have 2 seniors on the entire line and they're Michael Frogg and Steven Jones.

Our biggest loss by far would be if Mayo left. I don't know that he will though.

He counted Eric Young as an O-line starter who hasn't played the second half of the season basically.

I was under the impression Eric Young and Anthony Parker are seniors. I could be wrong.

Young is a senior - not sure about Parker... don't think he is but he could be. Either way we got to break in a new starter for Young early so I don't see our O-line being an issues next year.

Our chances are better in tough games because our D will be better. That said, I don't like our chances against UF, even though we'll have a better D than they will.

What makes you think our D will be better? Both defenses are full of young guys that are expected to be better next year.

I think our back 7 have more talent. Our D lines will probably be comparable because they're losing the only player they had on the front. I felt like their D actually got worse over the course of the year, and that was a feat as bad as they were early. Watched all but one of their games and just didn't see anybody that started to stand out.

It'll be more of the same next year with fulmer, cutcliffe and chavis making dumb calls---another 4 loss season on the horizon.

I'am not going to say that we will lose four or five games yet. But the dumb playcalls will be there next year for sure.

Go Vols,

i'm actually a little terrified about our qb situation. there's been no proof whatsoever that crompton can throw well and he seems much less poised than ainge was. you can bash him for his performance in this game, but remember all those times when he's saved our butts too. overall, i think he's been a solid and relatively consistent qb. i am a lot more worried about the team being headed up by someone who's relatively untested.

Like the rest of your post(and others) you are wrong. Parker is a junior. Young is gone but only played half the season. We don't lose five d-lineman either. We lose our 2 ends and Mapu, who are replaced by more talented players who have received a lot of playing time. We will be much more talented and experienced next year everywhere but QB. It's on Crompton now. I believe he has what it takes to lead this team.
