I think it would backfire.

If we gave a coach that had a losing season an extension the perception would be.....Damn,they realy are ok with losing.

It's already past that. We gave Fulmer contract extensions for 8 win seasons. So now we're giving them out for having back to back losing seasons? I'd hope not. Part of the reason they're in this mess. Settling for medicority and now apparently losing is ok too..

That wasn't' the point the guy was trying to make, but I see where you are coming from.

I'm sure you mean well OP but seriously consider what you are suggesting. Dooley not being fired is as much of an endorsement as he needs right now. He has the opportunity to prove his worth at a top 15 program.

People aren't stupid. You can't try and mask the fact Dooley without it really being announced is on the hot seat. That's unattractive to DC's that are so called Big names. They can hope for a solid hire at best. The big name is a fantasy. They know it's win or you're gone here and that's just not a ideal situation. The rumor that Wilcox left because he thought Dooley wouldn't be the coach past 2012 might be true. The fact this search going this way is kind of strengthening that argument.

Don't disagree with anything you said except the last thing. No one knows how this search is going. It has only been a week. Auburn's search has been going on longer than that. Hart and Dooley are keeping this close to the vest for a reason. I'm glad we don't have a Hamilton show going on like when Dooley was hired.

No. Porkins syndrome. Sweeping a problem under the rug doesn't make it go away.

Part of the reason we're in the shape we're in now is undeserved Fulmer extensions.

I said the same thing a week ago and was slammed for it. What DC would come if they thought they would be canned in a year. Additionally, recruits do not want to commit to a program/coach that may have an entire new staff the following year. Two more years cant hurt.

Reading your garbage posts has been a very good education in that department for sure.

You not liking anyone's post should be a positive for that person. Considering you spew more b.s. and stupidity than anyone here.

Most everyone understands that 2012 is make or break for Dooley. Recruits too. I don't think Hart has put a number on it yet, but there at least has to be improvement.

Wanted to see what people thought here.

"Most of you guys aren't going to agree with what I am about to say but here it goes. I really feel Hart should give Dooley a one year contract extension.

Nothing is really going to change in his contract if we don't produce this year he would still have the same buyout etc.... but it gives the perception that he is doing a good job and has our program headed in the right direction, that way in this coaching search and recruiting the excuse of him being on unstable ground can't be brought up and if it is he can point to that.

Just thought I would throw that out there, I am sure I will be called everything from stupid to an idiot if not worse because people can't see the big picture, but whatever."

I kinda have to agree with him. Thoughts?

That's a great Idea, and next year if he can beat KY and go 6-6 we should double his salary, give him a private Jet and helicopter. Now I got to run and go vote for Obama for 4 more years, he,s doing great too.

Whoever they hire is going to say a lot without saying a lot.

I agree, but we need more than just a "big name" we need someone who can help us win now, and run's a scheme that fits our current players.
I think it's going to say more about his long term future here more than anything. If it's a scramble hire then Hart is done with Dooley. He's got to win next year or it's curtains.

True, they way they are handling it though is smart. No one will know if it was their 1st choice or 20th. Completely opposite of Hambone.
