They should get rid of the SEC championship game no longer having divisions in the league it really serves no purpose anymore.
This is not something a football fan should be saying in my opinion. This is something a football fans non football fan wife would say to get less football.

Even if somehow we win out there is a good chance we don't make the SEC championship game becasue Texas teams get soft schedules. Texas A&M avoids Georgia, Alabama, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, and Tennessee the top 5 teams in the SEC. We know ND is an average team, we know LSU is an average team, we know Texas is a bad team, and I suspect Missouri is average but we will find out this coming Saturday.

Honestly we’re not even sure what we are as a team yet. We’re pretty good at home. I think that’s been established. On the road though we lose some crap games and struggle in some big games as well. Tuscaloosa will tell us a lot one way or the other.

our defense is garbage. Let’s worry about Arkansas
Hope our D figures out how to win first down. Getting healthier will help. On grand scheme, we also got a favorable SEC draw last two years. Pointless to worry about now how things stack up, b/c no one knows how this season will roll out. One thing for sure, is we need to beat Ark, in order for rest of season to matter, b/c we aren't running the gauntlet of Bama, OK, energized UF and good Vandy team...there's at least one L in there somewhere.

Why does the SEC championship even matter at this point? I’m in the camp of it should be done away with but due to money it won’t. It’s just a chance to go in, have a bad showing, and be outside the playoff bubble because you had a bad day.

It really doesn’t matter anyway. We will lose at least 1 more, very possibly 2.

Can all of you who I guess are fortune tellers tell me which game we are going to lose? That way I can just not attend or watch that game.

And while you are at it, just tell the team - no need for them to show up since the outcome has already been decided.

11-1 with a win at Bama is something I would gladly take while getting to Miss Atlanta.

I have zero problem if we never play in Atlanta again. It’s a meaningless game.
Sit at home and watch and then go to the CFP

not really...in the 16 team playoff, a 9-3 SEC team gets in regularly...

The SEC and Big Ten will soon have 10-12 of the 16 playoff spots every year
It has been one year what is this regularly stuff. What 9-3 team it last year?

our defense is garbage. Let’s worry about Arkansas

I wouldn't use the word "garbage", but I would agree with "suspect".

Nitpicking the stats so far, against decent teams where we can compare the UT defense against what other defenses did against our opponents...and bearing in mind that at the end of the day, it's the points that matter...

UT averaged 39 PPG in regulation against Syracuse, UGA, and Mississippi State. Against those same 3, the UT defense gave up an average of 32.7 PPG. So roughly a 6 PPG advantage. What with those 3 games being at a neutral site; at home; and away, they stand (I think) as a good measure of what UT can be expected to score against a decent P4 opponent. Notice I did not say "SEC opponent".

Then we have to recognize the fact that the UT defense has been opportunistic. I tried to find the individual game numbers on INT's; Fumble recoveries; Sacks; and TFL's for the 3 games I used as a reference...and gave up. Too much work. But it's clear that the UT defense runs hot and cold, and carried the day against Mississippi State. All that being said...

I don't trust this defense in its' current state against any SEC opponent on the road. And I worry about it at home against the likes of Oklahoma, even Vandy, and maybe even Arkansas. I do expect the Vols to win at least 2 of those 3, so...

Then it's on the road against Bama, UK, and UF. Two of those 3 would be huge. Again, JMO. But I don't trust this defense on the road, against a quality SEC opponent. And two of those three fit the bill.

So, if the defense doesn't improve I'm thinking 8-4 or 9-3. It is what it is.

But if the defense finds a way to play better, then this is a playoff-caliber offense.
