I think we have a shot at UK. It may be an outside shot but we have one. Got to sell out on stopping the run and make them try to beat us through the air.

We can beat Vandy. But Missouri is going to take a miracle. They just have to much offensive fire power and a great QB. Beating UK is absolutely critical for us to have a prayer at a bowl. I sure hope Saturday's effort was a one time anomaly.
Can these kids stop the run though 🤔

Don't forget that Dooley is off Tennessee's payroll and will run up the score on the Vols. Pruitt will be angry vs. Vandy and on-side kick at least 3 times. JG will get gimped up and Chryst will come in to beat the Dores. UK and Mizzou will each have 600 yards on the Vols

Any amount that you want to bet on UK and Mizz gaining 1200+ yards I'll take it. You NegaVols either took your dumb pills last night or you're just being jerks about our current team.

I believe our record will be better next season, due to a softer schedule. We'll probably even go bowling but I really don't look for us to take a significant step forward until year 3. Our recruiting has to get a lot better though. Top 15 wont cut it in the SEC. We need to be around the top 5 nationally in recruiting to properly compete with our rivals.

I am all in on Pruitt and this staff. That being said, I dont think we have much of a shot at another win. This OL has gotten worse and now there is no more Trey Smith. If we would have dominated Charlotte like we should have then I would be different. But having negative rushing yards for the vast majority of the game against a team that got drubbed by UMASS is beyond bad. Now we will have a salty, pissed off UK coming into Neyland with one of the conferences best rushing attack. They also sport a tough defense. I dont see how we can win. Missouri and Vandy are both playing much better than we are. It is what it is at this point. Have to recruit better players.
Salty Kentucky! Just sprayed my dog w a mouthful of beer 🍺

I am almost of the opinion that the Vols do not need a bowl game, they need strength and conditioning non-stop for the next 10 months.

Yep. I believe thats one of the biggest issues with this team. As I have stated before, we are on our 3rd S&C program since 2015. Thats utterly ridiculous.

Numbers game in getting the Vols back on track, regardless of the outcome of these next 3 games (I think we have a good chance vs all 3).
Currently we have 24 starters and about 15 more players really contributing. In total we have about 40 guys capable of playing at this level currently, another 25 or so, through redshirt or depth chart, that are developing for future seasons. 20 of our current roster we'll lose to attrition. Hopefully we make a bowl for the xtra practice time as the 2019 season is a totally different story. We return 20/24 starters and we'll have 40-45 guys (35 consisting of this year's backups and redshirts, and another ten in transfers, jucos and incoming Fr) fighting for those 4 starting spots as well as critical playing time. These numbers alone point to us being a veteran club in 2019 with a good mix of several young big time players.
Because of the above numbers, next season's easier schedule, a quality veteran QB with all 11 returning on the offensive side I just can't see how 2019 will not be successful. Most great coaches get it done in year 2 and I believe it's set up perfectly for CJP and this staff. I think we could see a change at OC as early as next season but looks to me like this staff has a good chance to stay together the next 4 years which I believe to be a good thing. If during the offseason we see a mass exodus of players and staff I'll worry but I just don't believe that happens with this group.
We can all help, it's an important stretch for our boys! Everyone I think can agree, NegaVols, Sunshine Pumpers and VFLs, that we've got a decent shot vs each team left. Charlotte was a scrimmage game, it was close, big deal! Auburn looked pretty good to me vs Texas A&M!! Each game is different but this is a big one as it'll give CJP and the team 2 wins vs ranked opponents and springboard us into 2019!!
Get on board Vols!!!

Einstein said doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is an act of lunacy. So why would you start the same 20 guys as this year and expect a different result?

4 new guys is not gonna cut it. They are not gonna change much. Roster overhaul is needed!!! Jesus people, think logically before you post or start threads.

Do you not understand numbers? This year we have 40 guys competing for 24 starting positions and playing time with 20-25 developing their bodies and skill sets for future seasons. In 2019 we will have 65+ that will be competing for those same spots. Do you feel that experience doesn't matter, do you think CJP is just going to replace the whole team in a season? Which players would you cut? Taylor, JJ, Bituli, Calloway, Chandler, JG, Thompson, Warrior, Peterson, Ignot, Kennedy, Buchanon, Wood-Anderson, Jamir Johnson or D Taylor? I'm curious as to why you feel each of those guys are not SEC players, curious as to why you feel our 15-20 RS freshman won't develop and curious why you feel that 40 guys competing for playing time is a better situation than 65 competing. If all you got out of that thread is that we'll be playing the same players so we're going to suck again then no need to debate as you really have nothing to input. You obviously believe all of our players suck and there is no hope, I don't believe that to be the case.

Mature doesnt equal talented and Auburn is a 7-5 team that we beat, not "whipped". Nobody is downing these kids as people, if you are a recruiter, you should be able to see good from not so good and also know that JG couldnt weigh 230 if he ate Twizzlers all day every day. His frame and natural physiological makeup could never weigh 230 unless he sat on the couch as a 50 year old and ate bon bons.
You act like we don't have talent which is not true. You keep bringing up me being a recruiter and throw in snide little remarks as if I must suck at it if I think our current roster has talent. I'm curious, please name me 10 current starters that you believe are not talented enough to play in the SEC.

there will be at LEAST 15 players that are supposed to return that will not return to the team in 2019. Have to have that many leave to sign a class of 25.. so there is going to be major roster attrition... this response to what I made bold..

Also, until he flips this roster we will not know if this new head coach with 9 games under his belt is perhaps going to be great. We might get that clue about 2021..

just my opinions

The entire offensive line, Two DBs, a TE that plays a lot, and one LB

I agree, 20 guys not contributing now will be lost to attrition and those 20 are dead weight now. They will be replaced by transfers and incoming Fr, several of which will push for playing time in 19. Only 4 teams (BYU, Fl, Ga, Commies) on our schedule next year will have as many upper classmen as us and the 6 other Power5 guys we play will have either a new QB or lose a ton of Sr linemen on both sides of the ball. Ky is hot garbage at the QB position but loaded with 40+ juniors and Sr on their roster, thus it's led to one of their best seasons in their history. Mature players make a difference and next season youth or talent will not be an excuse. Are you the same LSWVOL that use to post on Gridscape?

Both freshmen DBs will play in the NFL and our TE is super talented but just raw and doesn't know anything about football, he should improve a ton this summer. 3 of the current OL will be backups next year, and not sure what returning LB you're referring to as Bituli, Peterson, Sapp and Ignot are all solid guys, Peterson with a shot at being great. So you've basically named 3 OL as not being SEC ready next year. Once again I ask you for 10 and the 2 DBs you pick out are our highest rated guys on the team based on professional NFL ratings. How can one debate with you when you claim two of our best players, the DBs, are not SEC caliber?

Nigel Warrior and TK are not fast enough to compete with the bubbas, the Gators, or jawga. Safeties are DBs and if you think Will Ignont and Sapp are good, I canr help you.

Hey, I thought you were a little off kilter before the Auburn game, so maybe it'll work this week...

Do think 2019 will be a better season.
