When your philosophy is to "remake" UT into Cincinnati --- this is what you get. UF is terrible; they got man-handled by KY. They might win 5 games. We might win 4 games. Pruitt on the other hand has a philosophy to "remake" UT into an Alabama type team. Amen to that.

It gauls me however to see other teams who have historically been in the cellar ranked (MS ST), undefeated (KY) etc. Why in the world has our "rebuild" taken soooooooo long?

BTW - Dooley's offense put up 29 points on one of the nation's top 5 defenses. That's right - Dooley's (at Missouri).

I agree. Helton called a nauseating game... especially early on.
He's also too far in too back out in time. Now we're predictable. Should have realized the possibility of a bad offensive line and taught QB's to roll out. Sad all the way around but gets much sadder when high paid coaches can't improvise away from our weaknesses. Read a post awhile ago about Kiffin teaching Crompton how to roll out and buy some extra time and while at it teach receivers the fine art of breaking off routes to accomadate the mobile QB. What's nauseating is his repeated attempts to keep running our backs into brick walls which eats away at the clock, while behind 3 scores against a pitiful team. This is exactly what frustrated J.Hurd more than anything. I hate to watch teams keep attempting to pound the line of scrimmage when all LB'ers are waiting to stuff it or not penetrate into the backfield as soon as handoff occurs. Well I didn't go to game +$300 ahead and no felony charges. One stiff drink of Beam and ran out of cuss-words but watched some real ball,...Iowa v. Wisc. - Stanford v. Oregon - UK -V.v MISS. St. to name a few. UT will come along when they get tired of the cellar. Our AD might suggest spending major bucks on an OC if UT wants to fast-trac to being a contender. There exist the possibility that UT is totally lacking on offense and no coach anywhere, anyhow, can make it better without additional talent.

Have you seen this team trying to execute? Do you think they could execute something supposedly better play called? Maybe the reason we are "vanilla" is because the team cant even do that well so Helton is not even bothering to call Strawberry with Sprinkles?
YEAH IF YOU CAN'T DO THE BASIC YOU DANG SURE DON'T WANT TO ADD ANYTHING COMPLEX

It certainly appears that way.... he's got A LOT of work to do. It's a complete rebuilding job
I think he's up to it but will likely leave early and his successor will get the Glory of coaching the team he built and win the conference. That's the way it works at UT. Sarcastic delusional fans hiding behind a keyboard. Got any gripes with the coach and want to be negative go down to Calhouns during Vol calls and let it out. Spare some of us the negativity that's at least 15 yrs. old.

I don't necessarily disagree with the coaches having some fault but at some point you have to have a will to not want to suck.

Put your bulldozer in at the goal line.

Pruitt himself has already complained about Jordan not hitting the hole, and bouncing outside instead.

That’s an unforgivable personnel oversight by the coaches. One that they are very aware of.

The team reflects their coach. Lyle is gone and this is Jeremy's team. Once we start hiring qualified HC's then we will get results. This is what you get when you go to the bargain bin.
How much are they now paying W.Taggert, S.Frost, C.Kelly ? In each case dare I say more that we pay CP? Where are the results with those teams? Hint - engage brain prior to engaging mouth.

On the safety we ran the exact play twice and it was right behind Locklear who is the smallest guy on the O-line Go figure
From what I saw, the safety was mostly on Jordan trying to bounce it outside to the left. There was room in the middle of the field to get some yardage

Mississippi State took Dan Mullen similar to how we took Pruitt. Great OC and a great DC....but taking over epic $#!T shows. Teams with loser mentalities...believe in quit...ZERO fight when it gets tough. They’ve not been coached up at all but the previous staff....Hell they probably coached the previous staff themselves. The offense would take 2 steps forward then 4 steps back after making a strong play/conversion.

Jennings is the ONLY MAN on that offense that shows that I’M HERE FOR WAR competitive side on the field. He gets the ball and he shows he plans to hurt you if you try to tackle him. He wants it and needs to get it more.

The defense continues to get better each game. Our offense put them in bad positions early on...yet they still seem to be getting more into the flow of this new system.

Definitely under-utilized.....belongs at safety where soft-azz warrior is attempting to play. He'd be 1st team all SEC if he'd been put there. As a 2nd option he's probably a better QB than our 1st and 2nd teamers are now. Never seen him fumble yet. UT has stolen this players career and he mad. Played safety in HS.

I expect to see Banks get more playing time. He got punished for fumbling trying to do too much. Think you almost have to go with him and Madre who aren't afraid to power through contact.

We fans live in a immediate satisfaction world. Yea I’m not happy about yesterday but it’s gonna get uglier these next few weeks. After I can see a full year of development with his own recruits I’ll hold my judgement

Not sure the Tyson Helton expire net is going to work. )impressed by any stretch of the imagination. Speaking of imagination, we have ZERO on offense.

Spurrier, old ball coach.........would have dissected this shat in sring-time and anticipated it. There really shouldn't be a system on offense just a basic guide that takes into account the many ways and deviations that have to be used when the gameplan isn't sufficient. For instance if Helton is so intent on running a ball into a brick wall then may I suggest handing the ball off to P.Bain or K.Phillips and having E.Gooden and S.Tuttle leading as fullbacks,(2), in a two tight-end set and after hand-off have the two ends at least circle around behind the carrier so give extra push and once momentum has started the tackles will join the train from behind as well. Get the picture? TD every ime or anytime short yardage is needed. Power-running and on 2nd attempt from this formation when you know LB'ers and safeties are going to cheat up to attempt to stop such a power run I'd call "fake power dive right, screen left." That's the best call on 4th and 2-3 yds. from around the 20-30-yd when you could chip-shot a FG. It will only work by design after you've utilized the actual run play once or twice prior. Gruden's coffee runner

From a post a day before the game:
247 Sports has updated their overall team talent rankings for 2018. UT is 14th, right behind Florida. Somewhat surprisingly to me, Ohio State edged out Bama for first. Georgia is 3rd, LSU 6th, Auburn 11th.

So, UT is the 6th most talented SEC team according to this composite:
Statistics lie

I wonder what the attitude is on Nebraska boards
Dare I say they have a lot more confidence than us because they have one of their own coaching them up. To them it's only a matter of time. It should be the same here because CP is a young coach with a bright future. I really can't fiqure out this delusional fanbase. 1st they set themselves up with unrealistic expectations and it doesn't occur then they are either mad or depressed, both negative traits. It seems as though negativity breeds negativity and granny told me if you can't say anything good best to zip it. Think about it.

Reality is UT football as some of us have known it is over. This program is dead. A great season going forward will be 8-4. Terrible players and terrible !

Terrible players and terrible coaching, 15 years or so of loser coaching and yes I'm including Pruitt in that. I hope you all enjoyed all that 20 year celebration crap because that's the last enjoyment of UT football you will ever see again.
You a damn lie!

Fair question - Did CJP really do worse or did the players turn the ball over 6 freakin’ times??!!! Hard for a coach to overcome that.
Yeah A.Pope should have had a death grip on that ball in his left hand clutched firmly against his chest. 1ST fundamental rule in ball carrying. Had he been going down the right sideline carry ball in right hand using sideline as a safety net. Plus jumbo-tron is there and he looked slower than heck but he wanted to be hero by diving into endzone with ball stretched out. It could have been a TD for UF. I'm certain coaches are teaching this basic fundamental. The question becomes why aren't players doing it the way coaches teach.? Then why is Shamburger put in position to return KO's? A fair catch gives us ball at the 25 which is way above our average even when we attempt to bring it out plus injury risk is less. Wanting to be a hero again. Not using logic or common sense but thriving on a fantasy cost us another turn-over there and hardly any attempt on his part to recover the dang ball. Yeah let's all blame the coaches....it's their fault these dumb-azz players play with so much emotion that they can't think straight. Simply said not only are they lacking in skill they also lacking in intelligence which must make them even more harder to coach.

But what did everyone expect?

This team hasn't been coached in 5 years. Our Oline is softer than Angel's voices. Our team still has the mentality of the old coaching staff. Pruitt is a first year head coach learning in the toughest conference in the country. This isn't a conference to learn on the job. It's not his fault he was thrown into this madness and I don't blame him for taking the job. He may regret it in the end. It's been a career ender for most coaches.
This teams needs a swift kick in the ass. There is no way you can be this damn bad.

How can you blame a previous coaching staff for the turnovers?

i think they should take a knee on every snap and then punt!

I did not expect them to win this game. Would just like the team to look competent to be there. This is entertainment, so far they have not entertained even for 1 minute. The WV game was over on the 1st series, 2 crip games that were difficult to watch, then the keystone cop offense from yesterday. They did not even resemble an SEC football team. The instant the game starts its clear immediately we are overmatched. Rebuilding a program is one thing, this is another thing, an ugly thing.
