I'm not even exaggerating, but I believe UT is done for the foreseeable future. It may not be great again in my lifetime and I'm in my 40's

Every other SEC team is leaving us in the dust because we have incompetent people running the ship. We lucked up on Rick Barnes.

I took advantage of UT Football growing up and never thought I'd see Kentucky and Vandy Football look better
You’re right. We’re toast. Fans need to tell the admin to fix it otherwise their gravy train is done. I’m as true a fan as they come but I’m done. I’m sick of this ****

At this point I don’t see how any coaching change would be different, even tho I’m not for it esp 4 games into the current coaches career.

I KNEW for a fact the last 2 seasons Butch was here that he needed to go ASAP, but it’s clearly way to earlier to get on any fire the coach train in my opinion.

Sadly I became a huge fan of UT when the prime was worn off. Kiffin year was when I first got into the Vols, and dived head first.

I’m truly starting to believe I’m a black cloud over any team I like. All my other favorites have similar downward spiral effects going on in recent years.

Mississippi State took Dan Mullen similar to how we took Pruitt. Great OC and a great DC....but taking over epic $#!T shows. Teams with loser mentalities...believe in quit...ZERO fight when it gets tough. They’ve not been coached up at all but the previous staff....Hell they probably coached the previous staff themselves. The offense would take 2 steps forward then 4 steps back after making a strong play/conversion.

Jennings is the ONLY MAN on that offense that shows that I’M HERE FOR WAR competitive side on the field. He gets the ball and he shows he plans to hurt you if you try to tackle him. He wants it and needs to get it more.

The defense continues to get better each game. Our offense put them in bad positions early on...yet they still seem to be getting more into the flow of this new system.

Pruitt gets a chance to coach his players, 3-4-5 years whatever it is. Our upper class men have no fight in them that I've seen. Fight left when Josh Dobbs left.

All you need is a couple of Al Wilson prototypes to take over leadership of the team and beat the primadonas into being team players first.

But what did everyone expect?

This team hasn't been coached in 5 years. Our Oline is softer than Angel's voices. Our team still has the mentality of the old coaching staff. Pruitt is a first year head coach learning in the toughest conference in the country. This isn't a conference to learn on the job. It's not his fault he was thrown into this madness and I don't blame him for taking the job. He may regret it in the end. It's been a career ender for most coaches.
This teams needs a swift kick in the ass. There is no way you can be this damn bad.

Save for a select few this team isn't a team at all, they are simply losers and no one will correct this mess except a purge of players

Nothing personal but I would gladly start a Go Fund me page to pay you to choose another team to cheer for because for the last 10 years we have Been cursed and I have been trying to determine the cause of the curse. Based on your post, I may have found it.

If only we had some basic, fundamental guiding principle to go by. Like:

The team that makes the fewest mistakes will win.

If at first the game - or breaks - go against you, don't let up ... put on more steam.

Protect our kickers, our quarterback, our lead and our ball game.

Carry the fight to our opponent and keep it there for 60 minutes.

Watching the game last night was tough. It’s tough because we watch a program we love, that is fully capable of competing against a team that isn’t very good, quit. I didn’t see horrible coaching calls. There wasn’t much offensive calls to watch, really. What I saw was failures to execute, lack of offensive leadership on field, and just a complete lack of motivation. And this was a win-able game. Its one thing to get out played and lose. It’s another to not show up.

The way UF was getting into the backfield, I thought we'd see more screens and option tosses. Not sure it would've mattered. The staff wants to implement a system and they're playing with house money. Going to be ugly the next few games as we will be so outmatched that any small increments of improvement will not be visible due to talent disparity.

Not sure the Tyson Helton expire net is going to work. Not impressed by any stretch of the imagination. Speaking of imagination, we have ZERO on offense.

we have never had less talent. Never
From a post a day before the game:
247 Sports has updated their overall team talent rankings for 2018. UT is 14th, right behind Florida. Somewhat surprisingly to me, Ohio State edged out Bama for first. Georgia is 3rd, LSU 6th, Auburn 11th.

So, UT is the 6th most talented SEC team according to this composite:

And I agree the offensive play calling was lackluster, but watching the execution last night, well, you can only call in what can be delivered.

A lineman can't make up for missing 3-4 years of hard offseason work in the weight room in 6 months. Butch's strength and conditioning program over the years was obviously sub par. Our guys just aren't strong enough and they get man kicked on both sides of the line of scrimmage. The defensive line is stronger they just lack speed. My old man, opinion is "Iron sharpens Iron" and these young men have simply not been exposed to the hard process it takes to become winners, both physically and mentally. Coach Jones only made excuses for them and his staff. Can Coach Pruitt bring to the team the attitude and toughness they need? I'm optimistic, but this is gonna be a tough year no doubt about it. I do know that I wish my eyes could unsee that game I just watched, it's ugliness is now forever burned into my brain. I imagine it's like watching a naked Sumo match "The Horror". LOL

Come on. lets quit blaming the past for everything. many will say Florida hasn't been coached in the past years too. it didn't affect them. Mullen had them ready--like it or not, experience counts and Millen has been through these wars before. I'm not ready to quit on CJP like many are but there will be some growing pains.

I have to admit, I expected “Tenneseee” to show up. After last night, I realized that the only team in the building with the maxim mentality was in the stands being celebrated for what they did 20 years ago. The Tennessee way of doing things isn’t present on that team. There’s a bunch of guys wearing the T on their helmets but the heart, passion, fight and competitiveness of a Volunteer exhibited by Al Wilson, Peerless, Bryson, Grant and others just isn’t there. I’m 41 and those were the best times of my childhood and my son just looks at me like I’m crazy when I talk about how good TN was... smh.

Pruitt made some gutsy calls but they did have a slight feel of desperation to them. I have no problem calling them but we apparently don’t have the “dudes” to make them happen.

I DID NOT expect to see the worst executing football team Ive seen all year, especially after seeing a middle school team lose by 34 with a running clock
