All for Tennessee site--rarely read it. Nine out of ten of their articles are on slide shows, like ten best..., five worst..., etc. They arrange their articles that way so you have to click on multiple pages for more ad hits. If your computer is a little slow it takes forever to get through the piece.

I don't know where all of these 'analysts' and 'reporters' come from anyway. Most are just wannabe jocks.

The author nailed it. There is no rational reason to buy into any preseason hype, coach enthusiasm, or potential Vol messiahs.

The team is going to have to prove it on the field. I’ll hold off on optimism until the results on the field warrant it.

It’s just where the program is right now....really where we have been for the past decade.

We are all entitled to an opinion but I think 7-5 (ive got South Carolina as a win and Florida as a loss, both could be the opposite) is the base level of expectations but there will be two swing games (Mizz and Miss St) which could elevate us to 9-3.

Reason for the above: 15 lineman over 300lbs (last year 2), a number of nationally rated players and coaches who have succeeded at Alabama and Georgia not Cinncinati and Western Michigan, look how The T Twins were developed last season when neither had even played as Defensive Backs before, so what can this staff do for Morris, Wright, T ot`o, Crouch, Gray, Tank and Burrell?

looks to me like he is trying to become a popular critic & get buzz started about himself.....anybody could've written that article...what's his claim to be believed over anyone else? i don't need to be told by this guy how good/bad the VOLS will be

I do agree with your last sentence. But I never hold off on optimism. I believe until the season is over. Then I cry in my drink and start looking forward to next season. I am optimistic that this season will help us hold our heads up a little higher. Go Vols!

We are two Saturdays away from kickoff. The fans of every team are full of hope. This is the time for hope. There are the same stories leaking out of camp at every school of new arrivals showing out, of veteran players who are ready to take the next step. Some may be true, some won't be, that's the fun of it.

I've written before that while I think 7-5 is probably the most likely outcome of the season, based on last year I just don't think there's much we can assume one way or another beyond we're likely to lose to Bama, UGA, and UF and we'll beat the 3 cupcakes. I'm not prepared to assume we'll lose to or beat anyone else, but right now, I'm hoping for the best. Also, I may be crazy but with all the injuries and dysfunction coming out of Gainesville, I'm tempted to say we've got more than a puncher's chance there.

you're not missing anything. i haven't read it either, but based on the comments i've seen it's another "hey, don't get your hopes up, this year is no different than any other year, just let the hype train pass you by" type deal.

like he's doing a public service.

because thinking this team can go 7-5 is just too much hype to handle, and we need to be saved from ourselves...........

I’m going to comment on this because of how long I’ve been keeping up with football...I grew up in a Pro city and with that said.....This guy is full of negatives and talking out his ass to stir up crap.’Situational’ football is the word that I will use to answer his ridiculous rants!! My advise people STOP listening and reading his garbage that he is writing.
