Disciplined teams don't commit those stupid penalties in nut cutting time. We have a habit of doing it too much.Perhaps, but let's not forget Umarov's contribution to the loss with his false start. That started the debacle. Maybe if he doesn't get flagged, we are at least closer and Heupel doesn't feel he has to kick on third down. Such an opportunity wasted. Some teams make the plays at crunch time and some just don't.
There was no result where I would have criticized trying to center the ball, since I was screaming at the TV to center the ball. Can’t disagree more. Players were put into position to go win and had chances on multiple occasions. Another false start or fumbled snap and you would have been complaining why we didn’t go ahead and kick it. Relax, we get healthy and will be fine.
He didn't center the ball because Max prefers and is better kicking from that angle on longer kicksThere was no result where I would have criticized trying to center the ball, since I was screaming at the TV to center the ball.
For some reason the guy who went for it on 4th down from his own 10 in the first half of a game last year castrated his team out of cowardice.
It wasn’t 4th down. He didn’t have to throw the ball. Your coach was a coward last night and cost his team the experience of a lifetime. We can no longer trust Josh Heupel as far as you can throw him when a game is on the line. Better hope we blow teams out every game.He had us in position to win. If he went for it on 4th down and didn’t get it or if we threw the ball downfield and it was intercepted you would be on here with a completely different take. I will take our coach over someone posting on a message board.
We should have run another play. Or just have him going kick the field goal. Too much indecision I thinkMy one question is this:
Why, when you have 7 seconds and even ONE timeout (let alone 3), do you not just run one more offensive play to spot your kicker even one more yard or, at the very least, a better position from which to kick?
Do the chances of fumbling really outweigh the benefits there?
With the alternating teams, are we not going to play a home and away back to back? Or are we rotating every yearActually the SEC hasn't set that in stone yet....one of the options is play your 3 opponents and the other 6 shift EVERY season...
possible UT example:
2026
Alabama
at Vanderbilt
Kentucky
Ole Miss
at Auburn
Texas
at LSU
Florida
at South Carolina
2027
at Alabama
Vanderbilt
at Kentucky
Mississippi State
at Oklahoma
at Georgia
Missouri
at Arkansas
Texas A&M
2028

South Carolina
and so on...
Lies. He wanted to center the ball, as evidenced by the false start play where Aguilar was going to center the ball. Then Heupel shat his pants like a coward.
I’m already trying to do that
I'll be cheering for the tide in 2 weeksI'm not even going to put myself through that. It was a tough loss but one that should be in the W column.
Many times I want to win games for multiple reason. If you have seen or heard Ugaly's fanbase talk smack in recent years and leading up to the game then I think we all wanted to put a major hurt on them.
Agreed. I've said this on other threads and will repeat. You can't get too conservative in big games once you get a lead. Great teams find a way to come back and win. CJH just doesn't have enough of that aggressive killer instinct IMHO. Kirby proved he had it when he took that shot to endzone to help tie the game at the end. Maybe CJH will get it one day but kinda doubt it. I know we have defensive issues but all you need to do to compensate is outscore your opponent.Only person Heupel outcoached was himself. Kirby is a winner and winners play to win the game. Heupel played not to lose, thus he lost.
