This loss was on a couple Heupel decisions

I think Josh sensed the kicker potentially getting iced and wanted to get on with it. Probably more scared of another false start than a fumble.

I understand why we didn’t throw that last drive; can’t take a sack, hold, or throw an interception. I have no problem with the clock management there either. Just gotta make that kick.

Previous drive we should’ve been more aggressive

ETA another consideration, it was 3rd down and it’s preferable to kick with downs remaining. If you botch the snap you can still spike it and retry. Not the exact same situation but I bet ND wish they had a mulligan on the snap yesterday…

I don't know what happened on the 3rd and long on that drive where we got the field goal making it 38 but CJH was cursing on the sideline after the play. Could be the wrong RPO or coaches called the wrong play hard to tell but something was not right.

Heupel is not a big-time SEC coach and needs to be gone
Just absolutely brilliant. Best coach we've had in long time and you want to fire him because we lost by a field goal to Georgia. Never change VN.

You do realize we have a transfer QB with barely 2 months of practice and has never even played an SEC game before. He went toe 2 toe with Georgia. Perspective

Considering the injuries we had on defense before the game even started - no, the defense started shaky but stepped up when needed and did enough to win the game. PI was also not called the same for both teams
Leaving Ty Redmond in the game the entire time that couldn't cover an old man in a wheelchair was BEYOND INSANE!!! Surely, there was someone that could have covered better! That near Hail Mary for UGA's last TD in regulation should have never happened. With anyone else covering that receiver, it wouldn't have!!!

He coached scared on multiple occasions. You can’t be a chickenshít against Kirby Smart. The punt at midfield that they drove the field on, and especially the decision not to center the ball on the field goal at the end were scared decisions, and you cannot coach scared against teams like that. There were other issues in the game, but the head coach’s in game decisions cannot be an issue if you are going to beat a powerhouse.
Yawn. We were a very doable field goal away from winning. This thread wouldn’t exist if he’d made it. That’s how we know this is silly Monday morning quarterbacking.

Agreed, but, Martinez and/or Banks needs to go. If Heupel ever wants to win the SEC Championship, he needs an ELITE DC to go along with his ELITE OFFENSE!!! If Heupel can't fire anyone, he needs to be replaced by someone that will make a change when it is necessary. Look at Mike Norvell. He replaced his OC and DC this year. Now, they are looking like they may be there for the last game of the season!

Top rated defense last year is the only reason we were the playoffs and beat our rivals. But please let's fire everyone because of a single loss

If they would have centered the ball I'd agree with you.
If we’d got another offside and turned it into a 49 yard’er, you’d complain that Heupel was too conservative and didn’t trust his kicker. Centered or not, I guarantee Gilbert would say that kick was easily makeable.

Oh, so the running game and the points scored had nothing to do with it. Look how that D did when it finally faced an Elite O. They got scorched!!!

It isn't easy to make a 42 yard FG when it has to be pushed or pulled! Heupel **** his pants and didn't get to the center of the field on 3rd down with 7 seconds left. That would have made it an EASILY MAKEABLE STRAIGHT ON KICK!!!

He had us in position to win. If he went for it on 4th down and didn’t get it or if we threw the ball downfield and it was intercepted you would be on here with a completely different take. I will take our coach over someone posting on a message board.

Did you even look at the defensive stats of the game last night? Both defenses were neck and neck. Wonder if Georgia wants to fire entire defensive staff

Heupel outcoached Kirby all game tonight. It was brilliant against the UGA defense. We just have to stop the run.

Wrong. Kirby made adjustments after the first quarter and the entire games shifted to his favor. That’s what elite coaches do. Heupel’s not there yet

I will NEVER understand the 3 running plays after that strip sack. Makes no sense. That was baffling and contributed to the loss. The main blame though is on the kicker.

Tell you who I blame for the loss… the fans who went practically silent to begin the 3rd quarter as Georgia took half the quarter off the clock, the fans made no impact on that drive, far to quiet…
Crowds go quiet when their team can’t stop the opponent or move the ball. The crowd didn’t act like a coward all night, that was Heupel

Im just so sick of you non football understanding people. He tried to run a play on 3rd to get more yards the same way he did the past 2 downs. He could feel his team getting antsy after the random false start and said screw it, I know max is good from here. Heupel and staff out coached ga the first and the 4th. Heupal &CO won that game. He just missed the field goal. A field goal he's made 20 times..... It sucks but IT HAPPENS.
TN WON THIS GAME. If we get healthy and stay mentally prepared for each week, Bare minimum make it as far as last year. Even though I know thats not good enough for you..
It’s hilarious that you can accuse anyone of not understanding football and then say we won the game.

Heupel was a coward last night and cost his team the game because of it. I can only hope he was man enough to apologize to his team for robbing them of the experience of a lifetime.
