THIS LOSS IS ON HEAD COACH

It's not "all lack of preparation." The team has no depth. I don't know if the stat is available, but I would really love to see the number of snaps UT's starters are playing as compared to some of the more successful P5 teams. I'm not calling the coach a savior or a genius. I'm not calling him a fool or a poser. But, the team needs more quality players before they are truly be competitive for four quarters, plain and simple.
Depth didnt let wrs run wide open because of miscues in the secondary. Uscjr is not recruiting any better than we are...depth was an issue with bama. Depth was not the issue Saturday.

I see no reason we should not have drove down close for a FG and put this in overtime. That job is on the QB... he failed miserable there. Again. And he will again and again.
I thought we could at least get the tie. T.Jordan had peeled off good runs on 1st down on the prior 2 1st down plays. Then UT called that pass play to JJ in the right flat on a 1st down that wasn't even on target and it would not have mattered anyway because he had 2 defenders right on him. JJ showed frustration over it. It was, IMO, a defining moment and the playmakers lost their composure. That was a critical misfire and HC should have realized it and used a timeout to regroup. Another time when JP made the instant decision to attempt to go for it on 4th down I feel he would have been better off in using a time-out. He's sending a message that he's confident, like it's no big deal but he's totally wrong in doing so. There are numerous things to point to that are impacting this team in negative manner and some acting in combination but the bottom line is youth and inexperience with the players and coaches. It's not fair to even attempt to point to a single player or coach. Pruitt could do himself a big favor by not appearing to be overly excited on the sidelines but then again he said he was gonna make the defensive calls this year so I'm assuming that our defense is out of position a lot and that's causing him to get fired up. Hopefully that will pass in time.
In responding to your post the pass play I mentioned above should not have been called in the 1st place. A seasoned HC would have realized that and recomposed the team by using a timeout and say we have 3 downs left to pick up 10 more yards. How hard is that? CJP is almost delusional in the way he's trying to instill confidence in this young teams abilities. I can grasp his point that he feels that it's to our advantage to not give the other team a chance to think about it but that's wrong and it didn't work twice. The reality is that this is a very young team and he's never been a HC at this level. He needs to learn and learn fast that there are critical moments in tight games where you just have to stop and rethink all things and give yourself time to think and make sure the whole team is on the same page. I guess it's part of the growing process that this team hasn't developed yet.

it's always somebody else's fault...think it's about time we fans take some responsibility for not playing better...:D

GO VOLS!

JP looked and coached like he was in a fog tonight. This loss falls squarely on the shoulders of the head coach. Complete lack of discipline. Going for it on 4th and 7 and failing to give our kids an opportunity. We were way outcoached tonight. This was as bad as it can get for JP tonight. On the other side ofthe coin KUDOS to Helton. What play calling!!!. It was brilliant. He has came a LONG way.

I re-watched the game, and yes there were some coaching blunders for sure as you mentioned. But penalties on are the players and a strong argument can be made that had we not had so many penalties, we would have won this game going away. Coaches aren't out there getting false start after false start, or getting unsportsmanlike penalties after the play. That's squarely on the players to be disciplined. No coach can do that for them.
