This just absolutely blows my mind as a UT fan..

Butch going for it on 4th and with that dumb playcall on Saturday was very reminiscent of Dooley taking a knee at the 50 against Mizzou. It's a resignation of im not going to succeed so now I'll just do stupid stuff.

You need to think about that decision before you criticize it. There is about 1 minute and 8 seconds on the clock, you are inside the 15 yard line with 4 yards for a first down. you have been getting gains on most of the plays in the drive. You have just missed a field goal of less than 49 yards on the last possession. If you try a file goal, you make it , you still have to recover an onside kick and drive for a TD and 2 point conversion. The drive would be about 50-55 yards with about a minute on the clock.

If you score rather than kick the field goal, you still have to make the 3 point conversion and recover the on side kick. However, when you recover the onside kick all you have to do is get into field goal range rather go 50 yards for a TD. This would be much easier than having to score a TD from 60 yards away. I would sore first and then try the field goal. Odd are much better.

1) Its illogical to say that the east is down. Just because some sports writer says so doesn't make it true.

2) If everyone is basing their assumptions off things that aren't real then how can there be any real discussions?

1) The east sucks. It isn't some sports writer, it's numbers. I'm sure that is well beyond your capacity for understanding, but read this if you're feeling adventurous: The SEC East is rated worse than a Mountain West division -- seriously - CBSSports.com

2) No one is "basing an assumption". They are taking a hard look at empirical data and concluding that the east is one of the worst divisions in a P-5 conference.

Stop basing your assumptions off of emotion. If you need a father figure in your life, find a mentor or pastor. Butch is a paid hack. A thin-skinned liar who cares nothing for you.

Wrong. The year we beat Testeverde and the camo outfitted Miami Team ranked to cost them a nationhal championship in the Sugar Bowl in 1985 was a blast to attend. i'm sure others can add exceptional seasons and games too.

I enjoyed that game as much as any win since I started watching Tennessee football in 1946.

Then you're as wrong as lyle. You kick that field goal every time.

If you want to win.

UF goes into LSU with injuries and the East on the line and delivers.

UT goes into SCAR with the east on the line and fails.

UT gets a chance to salvage the season by beating VANDY and getting the Sugar Bowl.. fails again.

Butch is in over his head. Not hard to see.

Florida's 1 stringers got hurt they was playing with second team. Our 2nd team and some 3rd stringers was out hurt big difference.

Win a bowl game and we finish ranked...but we've had more than few seasons where we were ranked preseason and then dropped like a rock...

In 2000 we were preseason #12 and finished unranked (8-4)
In 2002 we were preseason #5 and finished unranked (8-5)
In 2005 we were preseason #2 and finished unranked (5-6)
In 2008 we were preseason #18 and finished unranked (5-7)

It happened under Johnny as well...
In 1986 we were preseason #10 and finished unranked (7-5)
In 1988 we were preseason #17 and finished unranked (5-6)

Fixed it...if you want a good picture, count the number games starters missed...Mayes was injured but he played in as many games as JRM and Cam Sutton COMBINED...

Florida had injury issues but when you look a little deeper, the impact on the two Ds was way more sever on Tn...

What about this.

A team starts out ranked #12 in the AP Preseason Poll. You roll your first non-major opponent 28-13.

Then you go on the road and beat #18 ranked Notre Dame to move up to #7 in the AP Poll.

Then you lose 9 of your next 10 games to finish 3-9 on the season.

That's gotta sting, especially if you are used to winning at least 11 games in 5 of the last 6 seasons.

Welcome to being a Michigan State fan.

Whew.

Hopefully this isnt an attempt to explain the loses to USC and Vandy.

CA Vol, Wylo and a few others would have committed suicide had that happened to the Vols

Miami didn't wear camo in New Orleans. They wore it in Tempe the following yr when they lost to Penn St. coached by Paterno and Sandusky.

Fulmer. 2005? Pre-season ranking of #3.

The inspiration for my handle on this site.

As bad as the 2008 - 2013 period was, the waste of talent on that 2005 team was sickening. At least when we were bad for those 5 years it was because we just weren't all that talented.

My thoughts exactly when I sat in Neyland versus App. State.

Team 120 has yet to play a complete game, that's on coaching, not to mention the penalties and undisciplined play...... the 2016 the Vols went backwards in so many areas
