This is why Gruden will never coach UT...

Butch Jones is a hell of a coach. I'm happy with where the programs going. Not just on the field but he appears to be changing the culture back to when the program was where it needed to be. It's gonna take patience, (that most fans don't have now days) but I think we have the right guy.

Give me Peyton as an OC next year and let shoop do his thing. We have it all coming together. :loco:

Hiring Gruden would be starting all over. Gruden camp is good enough.

Gruden is never coming because Dooley will have us back on track soon. He was the AD at La Tech after all, so it is just a matter of time. He is just currently waiting for his revolutionary "no need for offensive lineman" scheme to sink into his players minds. Then and only then will we be able to reach the zenith of the future of Tennessee football... 4th in the East. Patience people, patience.

Dooley Patience isn't the same thing as CBJ Patience :mf_surrender:

It's all a cover up...Butch is just keeping the seat warm until Jon does what he wants at ESPN, Then Butch takes a big offer from an NFL team, Gruden suddenly takes the UT job and brings in Peyton as his QB coach and every top recruit in the country commits to UT and demands for a Neyland expansion to 170 k begins and UT wins 10 national titles in a row and I can die happy man knowing we will never lose to Alabama or Florida again in my lifetime....Yes...That's what is going to happen.

/this f'ing thread!

Inside Jon Gruden's 'Maniacal' Obsession with Football | Bleacher Report

Awesome article about Chucky, and provides plenty of insight why he likely never will Coach Tennessee or anywhere else. Gotta love his passion for the game. Oh and BTW he pulls $6M+/year from ESPN.

What? He sent us another sign:

The perfect situation might come along—great owner, perfect city, obscene money, total control, the chance to work with the next Peyton Manning.

a few years back you'd had a hard time convincing some on this board

Yeah, at a time after we were betrayed by Kiffin, and/or drowning under Dooley. And that was not the only name floated, just the most popular/recognizable. Also, he came with a prior connection.

Plenty of reason to doubt he would come, but under the circumstances what is so crazy about asking? If Butch had turned out to be Dooley Part 2, and Gruden had told someone he would have accepted but wasn't asked, how many mattresses would be burned on Cumberland Ave?

Yeah, some fans were going off on wild tangents about Gruden. But at least they still give a damn.

This phrase reminded me of Bud Ford holding those rolled up papers the night Kiffin bolted for USC. I thought he was gonna smack somebody at that press conference. Miss that guy!
Here are some of his memories:
I was just getting home from mid-week Church Bible study when I got a call from either Tiffany Carpenter or (Associate AD) John Painter. For the life of me I can't remember which called first ... saying that something big was in the works and we were calling a press conference in about an hour and half and I needed to get to the football office. From that point on my phone was on fire from all the calls.
