I assume you would prefer all the arrests and shenanigans that went on in the Fulmer days? Or be an Oregon fan as long as you heard from the coach and team?

That's why VOLNATION's job is to continually spread rumors and start new threads.

....... and no, I don't have a LINK for that.

We had enough excitement a couple of months ago to last the entire off season. I'm okay with a quit off season.

If the guy can kill our interest in UT football, imagine how excited the rest of the nation must be about our new coach.

I wonder if he drape a cover over the team while they are in the tunnel before the opening game and then pull that cover off just as his masterpiece is revealed to the public.

If that's the plan, it had better be a darn good masterpiece. I'm having a hard time imagining anything better than .500 football this fall.

He didn't kill my interest in UT football. I'm just paying more attention to things like UT basketball. So what if he doesn't get in the media every day. I'm sure you can find something else interesting in your life to do.

simply pathetic, no understanding of running a football program. Your whole perspective is based upon a variety show with the strobes and lights, I can only imagive what you would have thought when General Neyland was coach, then again by your logic he was a loser too

My interest is as high as it has ever been. Higher than the previous regime, where I was afraid to open espn.com each day for not wanting to read about the stupid comment or recruiting infraction of that day.

I do agree that anything over .500 will be very good this fall. He will be fielding a team that will be less talented and experienced than the 2010 team that just finished 7-6. I don't care who the coach is, they would struggle this upcoming season. CDD's success will be defined by how well he recruits in 2011, followed by whether he can deliver marked improvement on the field in 2011.

There's no connection between Dooley and Neyland in 'my logic.' Perhaps that connection is made through your fantasies.

well basically you implied since he has no flash then he is a pathetic coach because he lost the fan base etc etc. By that same token, GRN did not have the flash and what not that you were describing, therefore using your formula and applying it to him, he would be a terrible coach as well, in your eyes.

Any coach would struggle with the coming season. 2011 is when we expected to see CLK results. Dooley has many of the same players, although Kiffin would have outrecruited him this year. What Dooley does with recruiting is 2011 is all on him and his staff. CLK and staff would have recruited a top 5 class this year and added another in 2011.

The next two seasons' results is where educated fans who are criticizing CDD (many of us here) will be more understanding than will the fanbase, at large. If he puts up back-to-back .500 seasons, which even a decent coach could do, there will be moving vans parked in front of his house. It's just UT football. He has to be better than a 'good coach' to pull this off. He needs to be a great one.

I said nor implied nothing about 'flash.'

Dooley is not Bob Neyland. Let's just agree on that.

well you said that CDD "bores" you basically because he isnt running a three ring circus up in knoxville. I agree CDD is not GRN, however I was applying your logic using a general format across the board. Shiney and sparkley things amuse you and that is fine

I didn't say this stuff either. I'm not asking for Kiffin-like tactics. Just a few reports that build the UT football brand.

Right now, on the national scene, it is 'out of sight, out of mind.' That's fine with me, but if I'm loyal enough to look for insights on what the heck is going on, why not throw me (and others) a few bones? We might just donate something to the program, buy more tickets, or do other such silly things that fans do.
