it's not fair to the kids....give me a break, it's sports, you are going to have your crappy players, you are going to have good ones, and you are going to have freaks, lebrons, Lightning Bolt, Phelps, etc....that's life.

An example of parents ruining something fun for the kids in the name of evening things out. And then people wonder why this country is becoming more average.

ahhhh liberalism at it's finest. tennNC should be proud.

being a baseball player, I'm sure TennNC would say to let them play

and this isn't liberalism it's the p****-ification of America, one whiny parent of a sucky player at a time

That is freaking ridiculous.

But he was just too good. The kids just can't hit him. I think all little league games should be coach pitch until middle school. (SARCASM ALERT)

Vonnegut's "Harrison Bergeron" is alive and living under the name Jericho Scott.

New Haven Register - Baseball brouhaha goes into extra innings

For those of you not familiar with the Vonnegut story it's actually just a short read and it will make you very uncomfortable when reading some of the news stories like the one above. Read it here:

"Harrison Bergeron" by Kurt Vonnegut

Thanks for posting the link to Vonnegut's story. It is a little eerie how reality can resemble fiction sometimes.

I wonder why competition is evil???????????

Teach the kids how to bunt.............................. or take a half swing.....

This is truly silly and pathetic!

You're welcome. :)

I actually first "saw" the story in some made-for-tv movie that came out in the mid 90's starring the guy that became "Sam" in the Lord Of The Rings trilogy. The tag line for it has spooked me more every time I think about it. This may not be verbatim but it went very much like:

"All men are not created equal. It is the purpose of the government to make them so."

Make no mistake, there are those who believe heart and soul in that ideal.
