Gonna keep saying it. Team reflects the coach. I don't think Heupel is respected. The fact that he bent over backwards for Nico and Carter surely didn't help. Said it with Fulmer....once respect is lost, it's very unlikely to be regained.

Aguilar is out the door so I believe what he's saying. Sadly, Heupel's UT career is like a brain dead patient. It's over. The body just doesn't recognize it yet.

You recruit a certain type of player. Look at Barnes and the Houston coach. Those guys get in your grill and demand you do things right every time. Some leave, but those that remain make the culture and are winners. They draw like minded recruits.

Heupel won with Frosts recruits at UCF then he began to tail off as those kids departed. His best run at UT was led by Pruitt recruits. Heupel seems to fade as his recruits flesh out the roster.

There's history that can't be ignored. Add to the fact that he hires buddies instead of top shelf assistant coaches and assassins on the recruiting trail and you quickly become what we saw Saturday.

Nah, Heupel ain't gonna change. This is who and what he is. What he won't be is UTs head coach much longer.

SEC teams rarely tackle to the ground in practice during the season. We would be even thinner in some positions if we did. It’s like a bunch of car wrecks on Saturday and you don’t lace up and start pounding each other again on Wednesday then have to recover again with another game in 3 days.

We need to hire a GM to manage personnel issues and have the coaches coach....but yeah, just watch our pre-snap penalties and lack of wrapping up when tackling and you can see the lack of discipline.

Then they are mentally weak losers that will never amount to anything anyway. Weed em out and get some young men that actually want to be coached and improve. Their talent won't outweigh the negative affects they bring to the locker room. See Boo Carter.

I don’t know the inner workings of UT athletics or the football culture. But from the outside it just looks like Heupel thought his offense was enough to win at a big time school, and someone else can worry about discipline and details. The problem is disciplined, fast, athletic defenses can force a lot of 3 and outs on Heupel’s offense now and he just can’t outscore everyone. Some changes need to take place asap

So, did you feel the same way when Nick Saban kept giving players "second chances" or all the times Kirby Smart has allowed players to hang around after all their legal issues?

Let's look past Heupel for a minute. A post I saw earlier on here was about how much NIL money other teams paid out. Tennessee was said to be around $14,000,000.00. The Texas schools were considerably more.

Maybe the problem is not as much Heupel as it is NIL funds. AD White needs to sit down with the board members and find out if they really want a winning program that makes the playoffs every year, or a program that wins more games than it loses.

Heuple is at a disadvantage to compete for the top players in the portal if he can't offer a top player what it takes to get them. Sit down with Pilot, Food City, Weigel's, and many more that I don't know, and get the NIL money flowing.

Let's face it; Josh is gonna be hard pressed to bring in top position coaches, and top players for them to coach, if he can't offer them the kind of money other schools are offering.

I swear, y'all look for any and everything to bash the staff over. Joey is pretty clearly referring to the players' mindset. He literally says they need to attack practices with that "extra level" of urgency on a consistent basis. He was in now way throwing the coaches under the bus, revealing a "lack of culture", etc.

This is worth noting and revisiting. It was discussed at length when he was hired. We were all hopeful.

It's a professional job, a ceo job, and all of the HC's today have abndoned the professional look. Bring back the tie and coat. Al Golden may be the last I recall that wore a tie on the sidelines. Jim Tressel. Maybe Saban in his early LSU days.

Saturday was not as much of a wrapping up issue as much as not even touching the offensive player. Their RB averaged over 10 yards a carry.
