Pearl. And the reason is simple: The Vols have only one guy who is dependably good/solid/consistent--and that is Chism. Everybody else on the team either has pretty obvious weaknesses or is just hugely inconsistent and undependable. The guards were good yesterday but could be the opposite tomorrow--see the kentucky game in the tourney; Hopson has athleticism--but he doesn't handle the ball well (big problem) and isn't strong enough; Prince does a couple of things well--pretty good defender and is effective at driving with his left hand, but he too is a weak ball handler (very poor right hand), weak shooter and does not shoot free throws well--missed two clutch ones late last night (but overall had a very nice game); Williams is a wide-body but is a bit clueless on offense. Steve Pearl is one of our first subs--and he is a complete cipher offensively--it's four on five.

For these reasons Pearl has done an excellent job just getting UT to this point--and there is not reason why we can't win one more as Ohio, in terms of overall talent, seems to have less going for it than we do--notwithstanding its outstanding performance yesterday. :clapping:

Just imagine what he can do when he gets to pick and recruit his own players.

Did you see that crap he threw up yesterday it made me think that Cannington can be a better sub than he can.

You have to ignore them Oldblood, these people are the same people that aren't content with life and never will be. They always have something to complain about and will always be negative.

Oh and be prepared to be burned for having an opinion that differs from theirs, that's what unhappy people do!

Yea. Pearl is the only coach ever to recruit inconsistent players. Definitely the coaches fault there. Just ask Kevin Stallings.

So because someone doesn't fully support Pearl's coaching decisions at times, they aren't content with life? Sounds like you're criticizing someone who has a different opinion than you....

you should be ashamed....Bruce finished ahead of uk,4 straight years....its not his fault the players dont get better....its not his fault he only has lil Pearl and McBee as subs..next year he has a great class coming and we'll be in the thick of it next year....we might even win a sweet 16 game....Bruce will be SEC COY....:cray:

Don’t know why it is crazy. He is saying that …

This has been an excellent coaching job by Pearl. And the reason is simple: [after 4 CBP recruiting classes] The Vols have only one guy who is dependably good/solid/consistent--….

I am not sure how that is a compliment. The OP reminds me of this type of post….

If Pearl had UK's talent, he'd have the same record or better as calipari.

It is like some people don’t realize that the coaches get to pick/recruit their own players.

Oh really. If they got to pick who they wanted every coach in America would have picked John Wall, Cousins, and Bledsoe. I guess Calapari won by coin toss after all the coaches picked the same players.

VolDad tell me about all the McDonalds all americans that were dying to come to tennessee in 2004.

Let me correct myself... it does appear there was basketball at UT before Pearl.

Below is a list of Tennessee’s all-time McDonald’s All-America signees:

1985 Doug Roth

1989 Allan Houston

1996 Charles Hathaway

1997 Tony Harris

1998 Vincent Yarbrough

2008 Scotty Hopson

2010 Tobias Harris

They obviously pick the players that they want to recruit. Too bad CBP could not outrecruit Cal. Why is that?
