CAVol, 3 times Tenn played Alabama and Coach Grant made Martin play Alabama's pace all three times.

I'd say Martin got outcoached, the missed layups and free throws were a result of being deflated at the end of a poorly game planned effort.

Yeah, I'm being tough on Martin as he has been applauded so heavily for getting his guys back in. This game mattered the most.

The issue wasn't effort. It's missed opportunities and letting a team that has a playbook with only screens continue to do the same thing over and over.

I would argue that we play a similar pace to Alabama. I'm not sure that was the issue. Not one time did we throw the ball into the high post to break down the zone. That was my biggest coaching issue. I also think we should have gone zone more than we did.

Beat em in every area.
Game plan: 1.bama knew UT struggles with press. Pathetic. Never adjusted.
2. Zone. UT stood around. Wrong players got to foul line
3. High ball screen. UT didnt defend well.

Bama outworked UT. They continually moved and screened on offense which showed in shooting %
Golden did nothing on offense. Didnt get anyone involved.
Combine with poor shot selection and free throws. Ughg

Trae walking around
Couldn't defend pick and roll

Most importantly, CM reverted back to early year mistakes and trae looked scared. He didn't want the damn ball all day.
Kenny hall played a lot. When that happens, energy is down and we lose. No, its not his fault we most. It just happens to happen when he plays.

I don't catch your drift? Any team that loses to a decent team shouldn't get in the dance?

Committee should probably trim the field to about 10 teams

Yeah well each game mattered the most before this one and we won all of those (save one). So yeah, there's a hole in that argument.

Also, missed free throws aren't the result of anything. Free throws are almost totally independent of how the game is being played. Other than in clutch late-game situations, I guess.

But we didn't miss layups and free throws because we were deflated or because the game was poorly planned. We missed them because we missed them. We'll make 'em next time.
