This D

The d-line actually looks pretty solid with the 1st unit right now and dynamic at times. The linebackers are questionable and the secondary is very inexperienced and not all that great outside of Berry. That being said, the D coaches are some of the best in the business and I believe they will have this defense firing on all cylinders by the Florida game. Walker, Martin, Berry, D. Williams, and McCoy have all star ability with Hughes being a big surprise.

Secondary has experience at every spot but FS. I think if Evans and Fleming beat out Vinson and Rogan we will still be in good shape. That means they will be very good players for us. Because Vinson and Rogan are no slouches. Also I really hope Lathers wins the MLB spot. We need his height in the middle of this D.

Hey quit the ainge bashing! Hes gonna be the second coming of Brett Favre for the Jets this year!

I'm not saying Ainge was one of the greats by any means, but he was ALOT better than he gets credit for and ALOT better than we thought he was at the time we had him. The things I would give to have him back to play under Kiffin. Just look at his stats from his Jr. and Sr. years combined and remember that he did this while playing hurt quite a bit (broken pinky on throwing hand, shoulder), missing some games, and playing in the top defensive conference in the nation...

558-867 (64%) for 6,511 yards, 50 TDs, 19 INTs, and a QB Rating of 143.72

This thread is about the the D and I think its gonna be allright. At this stage of the spring, he's playing different combinations to see how some of the younger ones will do. Of the 4 db "starters" this past weekend, Wilks, Fleming, Evans and Raines, I'm not convinced that any of them have beaten out Rogan, but Coach is playing him less because he already knows what he can do, kinda like giving Hardesty less carries than Poole or T.Williams. And Vinson is not beaten out, just injured for now.

Gotta be pleased with Montori Hughes. Though he's not gone thru the 4yrs weight training, he may bring more energy than Demonte did last year, and our DT subs are pretty much the same as last year (Langley didn't play last year anyway, so his loss is not that dramatic for immediate team impact).

Though Ayers made a few plays last year, I think our D ends are an overall improvement, I don't care who they are going against right now.

The season we had without him (last year) did nothing to hurt our memories of EA. And, it would have been nice to have seen what he could have done as a healthy senior under Cut.

Totally agree. We have been spoiled with our QBs prior to last year. When you have Shuler, Manning, Martin, Clausen, and Ainge at the helm your expectations are very high for the position. Ainge is a better prototypical NFL QB than Timmy Teabags.

I always that he was way better than most gave him credit. He took a lot of heat even in his senior season which was an excellent year for him regardless of what most say.
