This could be significant in a couple of weeks.

Sorry if this has been posted already, but just read this on ESPN:

Freshman RB Marcus Lattimore -- who had already had a career night, with 201 yards from scrimmage and three TDs in the first 30 minutes -- sprained his ankle on his second carry of the second half, contributing to South Carolina's post-intermission collapse against Kentucky.

"I heard a crack, and I thought it might be really bad," Lattimore said afterward, "but they said it was just a sprained ankle."

Lattimore said he would be back in two or three days, but coach Steve Spurrier said that his star might miss a week or two depending on how the joint responds to treatment. We're assuming it's not a high ankle sprain, which usually takes longer to heal.

If Lattimore is a scratch on Saturday against Vanderbilt, then senior Brian Maddox, who started the first game of the season and was the only other RB to have any touches against the Wildcats (and he had all of three carries), likely would get the call, with sophomore Kenny Miles next in line.

I honestly feel good about our chances against SC for starters just based, if anything else, on history of both teams but I'll take any breaks as well looking at our depth issues. SC is notorious for tanking the second half of the season and we just have not lost to these guys very much at all.....3 times all time I believe? We were supposed to be over matched last year and weren't and this team doesn't quit when down like the last time we were in Columbia. Plus I get to go to the game in columbia, only seen us lose once all-time in person! (Ok, I know that doesn't really count as much, but still!)

Go Vols!!!

I don't feel very confident about this one if they have Lattimore.

If he's not 100%, then I feel a lot better. Garcia is a tool so I'm not too worried about their offense without the run game.

Lattamore on one leg will make them hard to beat if our defense is as slow as the Georgia game.:salute:

They are definitely a different team without Lattimore.

It improves UT's chances if he doesn't play or plays gimpy.

It's more like impossible. Have our corners successfully covered anyone this entire season?

As has been noted elsewhere on a few different threads, when opposing QBs have ALL DAY to throw the ball because our line can't get consistent pressure, you can have the best secondary in the world and it's still going to be difficult to cover a decent WR corp. The issue becomes worse later in games when we start to wear down a little bit and the D line loses what little push it had to begin with.

I don't think our secondary is all-world by any means; it's just that they need some help from the D-line to make their job a little easier. And up to this point in the season, they've gotten pretty much ZERO help.

I'm seeing this team might have a hard time staying UP every week!! Hope they turn that around during the second half of the season!!

Good point. Very depressing, but good point. Yeah, if this trend remains after Saturdays game against Bama, the SC game could be ugly.

The trend is flashes of a bright future and the potential of our freshman/sophomores. Then a reality check of too many freshman/sophomores on the field.

I disagree with you on Oregon.......it should be 1/2 bad lol.
