Sorry if this has been posted already, but just read this on ESPN:
I honestly feel good about our chances against SC for starters just based, if anything else, on history of both teams but I'll take any breaks as well looking at our depth issues. SC is notorious for tanking the second half of the season and we just have not lost to these guys very much at all.....3 times all time I believe? We were supposed to be over matched last year and weren't and this team doesn't quit when down like the last time we were in Columbia. Plus I get to go to the game in columbia, only seen us lose once all-time in person! (Ok, I know that doesn't really count as much, but still!)
Go Vols!!!
Freshman RB Marcus Lattimore -- who had already had a career night, with 201 yards from scrimmage and three TDs in the first 30 minutes -- sprained his ankle on his second carry of the second half, contributing to South Carolina's post-intermission collapse against Kentucky.
"I heard a crack, and I thought it might be really bad," Lattimore said afterward, "but they said it was just a sprained ankle."
Lattimore said he would be back in two or three days, but coach Steve Spurrier said that his star might miss a week or two depending on how the joint responds to treatment. We're assuming it's not a high ankle sprain, which usually takes longer to heal.
If Lattimore is a scratch on Saturday against Vanderbilt, then senior Brian Maddox, who started the first game of the season and was the only other RB to have any touches against the Wildcats (and he had all of three carries), likely would get the call, with sophomore Kenny Miles next in line.
