This could be a very entertaining bowl game for us.

We will have 3+ weeks to rest, heal and recover. I don't think we will have a lot of holdouts because we don't have many that are high on the draft boards. We could be the healthiest we've been all season by the time the game arrives. Who ever we play may be in for a rough time. This team healthy is a threat to anyone. A big win would be a huge boost for next year. I sure am glad that we are winning again.

Someone needs to start a thread with an opt out list. The trend is showing outside of the playoffs, opt outs are increasing.

Tie in to bowls=watered down matchups. You may still get a good one but overall it limits unique matchups, all bowls not pertaining to playoffs should be open for everyone.
Base them on rankings, not conference seeding. But, once again, it's a money thing for the conferences.

Most of the SEC's bowl tie-ins are with the B10 and ACC.

Given, that and the desire to match teams with similar season records, I'm thinking these are the most likely match-ups for us:

* North Carolina (8-4)
* Wisconsin (7-5)
* Maryland (7-5)
* NC State (9-3)
* Miami (7-5)
* Duke (7-5)

Notre Dame (9-3) also possible.

Go Vols

EDIT: AllVols made a good point: we'll probably not face NC State in a bowl, because we play them early next season.

p.s. @Freak , what happened to the bulleted and numbered list formatting options? Any chance we could get those again?

I believe it’s down to 3 teams. NC, NC St or Notre Dame

NC State would be an odd alignment for a bowl game with Tennessee, as the teams play next September in Charlotte, hopefully Tennessee can leverage the NC State game in 2024 to get the best possible bowl configuration this year, keep Tennessee out of Charlotte this bowl season and headed into Florida if at all possible

I'm leaning UNC, we owe them. I think we play NC State next year? so they are out. If not them Miami please.
