The order of our targets makes 0 sense. It’s like Currie is just throwing a dart at a wall lined with photos of coaches while Currie is blindfolded.

Schiano -> Gundy -> Brohm -> Doeren -> Sumlin -> Leach

It goes from strike out to a triple to a double to a strike out to a double to a (in my opinion) triple.

Why are we looking at s*** coaches first then going after guys that we should have targeted from the beginning. Our realistic coach list should have been something like.

Gundy
Leach
Sumlin
Miles
Brohm

My opinion....Currie has a "list" of coaches. Only thing is, I don't think he ever racked and stacked them based on top preference. It seems he's just going down name by name....

Also, I heard a rumor that Dave Doeren was contacted by a recommendation through Cutcliffe to Manning. Still doesn't make sense though.

This is what happens when your AD is little more than a puppet to a control-freak booster who tarnishes everything he puts his crooked hands on.

I do not think Currie nor his supporters and superiors get it yet. There is literally no one of any quality as a football coach going to sign up to work for Currie at this ploint in time. The fellow is not only incompetent he has gone before the public and appears to be a blithering idiot. The worst that happens to a coach is an AD he is loyal to get fired. There is no one that believes Currie will be at UT within 24 months. A coach has 2 years max to turn UT around before Currie and whatever xxxt show he brings to Neyland are gone IMO.

I think you’re right, however some of that can be mitigated by hiring a good coach (Leach) and giving him a high buyout and a 6 year contract.

I mostly agree, but I would have had Miles second on the list. Unlike Leach and Sumlin, Miles has won a national title and multiple SEC Titles. The more I think about Miles, the more I think we would be foolish not to get him at this point. Also, I would have Tee on this list. But in general, I agree that our order of coaches makes no sense. Why go after Schiano before Gundy? Why Doeren before Leach or many of these other coaches still on the board. Our administration is incompetent and is being led around by the incompetent fraudster, Jimmy Haslam.

I'd say it's about par if you compare the last three AD's we've had...similarities abound...incompetence at hiring football coaches...:)

GO VOLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you really say that? How old are you? Obviously you have never hired anyone for a job. I nominate this post as most ridiculous of the year.

With all due respect it sounds like you’re very Beta when hiring for a job. You go for your guy and you offer him what he’s worth, if he takes another job then he takes another job. Not sure I’d want to work for someone that says “well we can’t hire him because company “x” is interviewing him....Get over yourself.

couple things.

that's exactly what they're doing because they didn't do a search in the two weeks in between firing jones and haslam telling currie to pick up Shciano, the deal was done.

then Sunday happened.

and now you're seeing a full on scramble.

so that's why. to be expected when you have an AD and a booster that just aren't 'very good at what they do.

Did anyone prove or disprove for sure that there was a Kiffin, Tee, Steele offer made to the UTAD? I could also go for a Miles, Tee OC - HC in waiting, and Steele. That makes way too much sense so it will never happen.
