This class may be as depressing as....

Exactly! 100% agree. People are so interested in defending the Vols that they look silly doing it. I understand the state our program has been in but geez, it's almost like if you aint thinking happy thoughts, you aren't a true fan. It's just silly to me. You can hate the fact we lost Von Bell or had a sucky NSD and still love your Vols :)

Well said. I've been bleeding orange since I first heard John Ward in the early 70s on the radio. You can love the Vols/School/program and still be disappointed. But I really do think we're headed in the right direction. Time will tell

I don't see why all the posi-vols get so upset and defensive about this. The facts are we signed a class ranked 3 spots lower than Vandy with basically no RB. CBJ is supposed to be a great on-field coach so hopefully he can still get it done, but just not very impressed with his recruiting so far.

Here's to hoping he can squeeze every single ounce of talent out of these kids.

Jones put together a better class in 1 month than Dooley had 3 seasons to do leading up until his departure. He built relationships and put us in the running with kids we never had a shot with. The only reason Bell, Lawson, Levenberry and some of the guys we missed even had our hat on the table was jones. I hate we missed on them too but it's college football. Try to use the time you spend on here *****i*g and moaning and spend with your kids or family or doing something productive. Your life will be better I promise it will.

Agree!Seems you can't be realistic on this board!I for 1 hope Jones can coach up the players we've got now but looking at last years results how much of it is lack of coaching or lack of talent?Guess we'll see next year. What irritates me is some people always have an exuse for everything!

The 2008 class, you know, the one that started Tennessee's downfall. bUTch better be a good coach on the field because so far he hasn't proven that he's a good one off of it.

he will get us 5 wins next year, rise to the top. hahahahahahahahahahah. must mean like a turd.lol

So you don't think there's talent on campus? Please.

Yep, and their performance will improve significantly under this staff. Can't possibly be even remotely as bad as team under Dools/Buddy Hackett

I'm with you, I still and will always love my Vols but there is no, repeat NO excuse for this poor of a finnish. If AU can do it after a losing season and a coaching change why couldn't we?

How can Vandy finnish better that UT? CBJ has his work cut out for him or he will be a 3 and done failure.

Vandy beat us like a tom tom drum...and they had a coach who kissed players on the lips.

There is very good talent left on the roster. Spurrier has delivered two 11 wins seasons in a row with lower rated classes on average.

Nothing wrong with this class. Most will get a year to get ready before being placed into action. Nothing wrong with that. Upper classmen will run the show next season with the possible exceptions of WR, QB and the secondary. Everywhere else is loaded with experienced guys.

Sick of excuses!! If other schools can get it done we should be able to. We should expect nothing less!

Vol football will continue to be in the gutter, until further notice. Alabama, Florida, Lsu, Georgia, Texas A&M, Vandy, Ole Miss, and others in the SEC are STILL out recruiting UT. We will fight Kentucky for wins. Try to be competitive with Miss. State until something changes.

Compare this years class with Auburn. COMPLETE NEW STAFF. 1st year.

How'd we do? So, we are ALREADY behind the 8ball. Get used to it. We got our asses beat on the recruiting board. Again. And we will most likely get our asses handed to us on the field the coming season.

Mediocre football is mediocre.

The 09 class was top ten and it produced about the same amount of on field talent as 08. Just goes to show that 99% of people post on emotion and not on actual football knowledge.

Blame whomever you want... the bottom line is the downfall of the VOLS only picked up momentum today! Granted we have 20 good kids coming to Rocky Top... but missing Bell, Green, Levenberry, Bellamy, Lawson, to name a few is a FAIL anyway you look at it! Elite talent wins today.. we haven't & don't get this Elite talent!

There are plenty of rational arguments for why UT should've landed a better class or why the current conditions around the program make that very difficult. We should all save ourselves a bunch of time by stopping this argument, which has been ongoing for a lifetime it seems.

Instead, we could use the time to determine which '14 RB runs a little too upright or just how bad a location Starkville is. Maybe even spend a little time with our families.

Just love listening to naive vols fans. The same fans who said Derek Dooley's gonna pull us out of our slump.

So you don't think there's talent on campus? Please.

Most of the talent from the '10 class is gone. The top guys from the '11 class are no longer here (although there is still some unproven guys who could make an impact here). The '12 is a complete unknown.

Finishing with classes in the upper teens is not good enough in the SEC unless we're content with mediocrity. We have talent that would be considered good in other conferences, but with these guys we're roadkill in the SEC. I really hope CBJ can find a system that these guys can work in that hides the lack of talent on this team.

Why is it not possible to not like the results of a class but still not support the Vols? Any type of negative comment is viewed as not supporting Tennessee and this is silly. Yes. This class is depressing and Butch hasn't proved anything yet but I still support the Vols.

Because these r the same people that called us dumb when we called dools out after the Kent loss. They either can't see both side objectively or refuse to accept that maybe just maybe cbj was a risk n this class shows that.

I suppose all those minor league championships meant much to the studs that want sec championships...lol

He needs to win soon
