The 2008 class, you know, the one that started Tennessee's downfall. bUTch better be a good coach on the field because so far he hasn't proven that he's a good one off of it.

This class is underwhelming to say the least. I'd say people overhyped our chances with almost every recruit so far (outside of Bell). Guys like Lawson and Green were never coming here.

How is this class depressing? Grow and set and support your Vols! You can gripe all you want if we have more loosing seasons in the future, but as of right now let's celebrate this class. These young men are now VFL's and deserve are support. And don't give me the "I will support them blah blah blah" when you just said you were depressed about the class which is a direct shot at them. GBO!

UT's downfall started way before 2008. The program has been in decline for over a decade.

Disagree entirely. Would've been huge to pull Bell, Lawson, Ford et al, but UT wasn't even in the conversation for these guys before Butch. '14 will be the true measure on his recruiting abilities and I guarantee you our coaching performance with the kids we have will vastly improve this Fall.

People are being reasonable about the talent were bringing in. Don't get mad at them for living in the real world. Maybe CBJ can coach them up, but at the end of the day it's hard to get excited about a class of 3* guys.

Look, this class is solid with some truly outstanding potential. It could have been phenomenal with lots of glitter and a top 10 ranking. It's not, but it's full of quality players WHO WANT TO BE AT TENNESSEE. I salute them and the staff on their effort. I'm as disappointed in the various misses as anyone (see my whiny post in Bell thread) and I'm as nauseated as anyone watching programs like Auburn and Ole Miss have unheard of (and unusual) success, but let's not let that trickle over into criticism of the class we do have. They are Vols, and they are here. Get behind them and celebrate their decision with them. They're our guys.

That dang Butch Jones, 2 months on the job and he couldn't work miracles....

The man hit the road hard and showed he is going to put in the work to get us back. If he shows he can coach, then I have no doubts in his recruiting ability. Hard to compensate for 3 years of failure in 2 months.

Tennessee's massive decline started in 2001, and it was noticed by 2005. I don't believe in letting stuff go down hill. I would of rather hired Butch in 2010 rather Dooley.

get over it man! It takes time for a new a brand new coaching staff to get in there and have success. You cannot fix broken relationships with recruits overnight and expect to have a top 10 class immediately

what a dumb opening post. UT is coming off 3 straight losing seasons. I saw what this coaching staff did with cinci talent and they are proven winners. Once they build some relationships, recruiting will get better.

Are you serious? Butch has been here for 7 weeks. The fact that he was able to get such top caliber players to even consider visiting us was amazing. Give them a year on the grind, and it is a different story. Sit down, lay back...and STFU

Can't scoff at a top 25 class after the last 5 years of hell this program has been through. Let's just hope CBJ can coach 'em up, get some W's this year and have a full year to recruit for us.

GBO!!!

Depressed huh? Well, it could be worse. You think this started in '08...no this started before then. I will say I believe butch to be a good coach and this staff will get the best out of this team.
GO VOLS!

This horrible recruiting class is Dooley's fault, not CBJ's. He didn't even try. If he had, Bell and several others would be Vols.

Agree. It virtually started the day after the '98 national championship. It was as though we got to the top of the mountain and then just kinda fell off. We had some good years in the early 2000s but our consistent excellence dropped off from that point looking back. Phil was pretty much done and then Hamilton began his systematic destruction of the program with Kiffin/Dooley.

It's a good thing that this class is not as depressing as you and your pathetic life or we would all be doomed.
