This can't be a real Butch Jones quote can it?

Butch keeps grading his success based on where this program is now as opposed to where it was when he got here. He is constantly referring to how far the program has come. The problem is UT.... fans, alumni and anybody who cares about the program feel UT is a program where at least competing for SEC titles is where it should be. We aren't gonna do jumping jacks of happiness cuz we won more games than Dooley did during his tenure. THAT whole era is considered an anomaly....not the accepted state of the program.

Butch continues to reference how far the program has come since he came aboard...as compared to one of the worst periods in Vol football history. THAT is NOT the bar.

So next time you post something asking a question, an acceptable reply will be "Look it up yourself jackass"?

Sure, if it's something other than an opinion I'm after. Otherwise I know how Google works if I'm truly looking for facts

Contending for the EAST and contending for championships should be expected at UT. GTFO with that comment about he never talked about it. We were the clear favorites to represent the east this year and bad play calling against SC cost us that.

Blah blah blah who else is getting tired of these BS post game conferences? 8 wins isn't the standard at UT nor is being bowl eligible like he has stated for the past few weeks

Cherry picking quotes

How do you figure? Here's how Fortenberry wrote it on twitter...

"Never heard me talk about it. Never heard the players talk about it." Butch on people talking about winning the East as a goal.

So, he was asked about winning the East as a goal, and he essentially said it was never discussed. No cherry picking, pretty straight forward.

I'll say regardless of this quote and its context, I am so sick of Butch Jones' press conferences. I am tired of cliches, I am tired of the same words, phrases, and total BS acronyms he comes up with each and every week, and I am tired of his lack of accountability. We talk every team up like they are the 72' Dolphins. I try so hard to like the guy, I mean he clearly loves Tennessee and is passionate about the program and I want him to do well, but dang I am getting to the point where I get physically ill and mad when I hear the man talk at the podium.

Context is important. If the question was asked if he talked to the team about possibly going to the SEC championship game if Florida lost, then this quote is exactly what he should have said.

This is more than likely the context. He was asked something stupid in the post game presser about what he said to the team at half time since they knew Florida had won. His answer was basically he said nothing to them. Obviously their focus was on what they could control and that was beating Missouri.

I do not think anybody is saying you reading that quote the way you did was wrong, it was just the context behind it. Fortenberry did not do a good job with that tweet and was probably just trying to get people fired up. Butch made the quote when talking about the LSU-Florida game and how it affected Tennessee.

-Paul Fortenberry

If that wasn't a goal then the problem is Butch's expectations as the coach at Tennessee and that's worse than having the goal and not making it.

Are you guys freaking serious. I'm sure his goal was much bigger than to win the East, perhaps it was to win the SEC.

well, it sure was my goal...stuff happens...and then you die...:pilot:

GO VOLS...ONE MORE FOR THE ROAD!

I just listened to it and it sounds like he's just repeating his answer from the previous question which was very similar. Definitely being blown up by people looking for something

A simple two-step process for How to VolNation:

Step 1: Freak out
Step 2: **** facts or context, continue freaking out.

If winning the east isn't a goal, his garbage tail needs to go back to the MAC. He's pathetic.
