I was a little surprised. Did not hear much about him during camp. He is really good player to be 3rd string behind Trevon Flowers at safety in his 5th year. Is there something behind it ? Was he injured or something ?

he's had some injury history, yes. and i don't think he's as fast as they'd like their safety to be. TK was always one of those guys that i thought could put some weight on be a LB.

I was shocked by this but I guess I've not been paying great attention. I knew about, "the fall." I'm hoping the guy can turn it around.

According to Doug Mathews, TK Jr is not a great fit for Pruitt's defense. It's unfortunate because he's a good player, but I guess it's inevitable that there are always going to be a few people that don't fit in well with a new coach's scheme.

If you are shocked, you haven't been watching...TKjr was burn't more times than a toddler with a case a sparklers over the last couple of years.
He has had his moments, good and bad. But for a 5th year safety to be supplanted by low ranked freshman is kind of surprising.

I think the issue is primarily speed. If TKJr keeps his head up and keeps working hard, I think he'll get his chances this year, as he does have a knack for finding the ball. He's been a good player for us, and should be commended for sticking with it through a lot of turmoil.

I believe we will see a lot of TKJr before the end of this season.
probably. the way they want to rotate guys in an out, and stay fresh, i'd imagine we'll see alot of guys play that maybe we aren't necessarily being told about right now. i'm sure there's at least 3 games on the schedule that this staff will look at as developmental opportunities, and will do whatever they can to give guys reps.

for vets like tkjr, i have zero doubt he'll see the field, situationally speaking. but he's had an injury history, he's not the fastest guy, and doesn't fit the mold for what they like their safeties to do, especially from a coverage standpoint.

he's a physical kid with good size. i stll think he could grow in to a LB if he is to play football beyond college. he's a good player.

Just good to know that we have that many safeties that can play. Linebacker also a many players played to many reps in Jones system. We usually had nothing in the fourth quarter in several games last season.

Pruitt has said it since he arrived and said it in his press conference again today. There was a question about 11 freshman in the two deep and something about starting 3 freshman at UGA in the secondary while he was there. His response? The best players are going to play no matter who they are or when they arrived on campus.

I think we're probably looking too much into it. Shamburger is the star (or whatever the nickel is called. So in the nickel he's 2nd string. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if he would go in before Flowers or whoever was listed at the other spot, based on experience alone.

It's a trap! lull the enemy into over-confidence, then use a sledge hammer to squash the fly.
