Third and one on Bamers 48, and who do we choose to give it to?

I don't think allvol was blaming the freshmen. He was probably blaming the coaches for putting them in that situation. I know I blame the coaches. Third and one you put in a freshman with very little college experience instead of your hoss of a back who is averaging 7 yds a carry.

I agree. It was an odd point in the game to say "oh well, lets get the young guys some PT."

Although I agree it was a stupid move. Lennon Creer has shown to be adequate and he has played in a few big games already this year.

It wouldn't have mattered if you had Barry Sanders or Bo Jackson running that ball, the o-line got mauled.

We blitzed all day long, that was the problem. We kept bringing people all day even though they weren't getting to the QB. If you blitz and don't get there in time it is easy for a QB to find an open receiver, you simply go to the side where the blitz came from.

Saben has Chavis's number, look at this game and the 01 LSU game with a backup QB who run around and away from the blitz and killed UT all day. UT will blitz on 3rd and long, qb will scramble to find an open receiever and get the 1st down every time against UT.

On 3rd and 1, bring Crompton in to qb sneak it, you get two chances or snap it straight to a rb.

On 4th and 1 on their side of the field, when Bama has scored on every drive, go for it, at least it shows confidence in your players and it might just fire up your players.

Phil looks to flat on the sideline, I liked the fact Saben was fired up, I think a fired up coach yields fired up players.

what would have fooled everyone would have been to send oneal straight down the field...guess that's not in the playbook yet...must be to hard

He couldn't handle the 2 yd forward pass. Can't imagine how it would be down the field.

uh, "all day long" is a bit of a stretch when in the second half we spent most of the time rushing three and dropping 8 in to coverage.

I'm still shocked that our d-line could not get any pressure on Wilson. Of course it looks alot worse when Bama had 2 o-linemen out and we were at full strength. I'm still scratching my head over that.
Does our D-line suck that bad????? I guess it does.:ermm:

we have a system on defense that relies on the front 7 being able to pressure the qb w/out help. when they can't, we struggle, especially when our secondary is young or just not that good.

i don't think we helped matters by playing coverage most of the day. we didn't blitz enough, and when we did it was usually in obvious situations and they beat it with the short passing game or JPW's feet.

bottom line, what i see in our defense is a read and react, not an attacking defense. whether by design/sheme or just the personnel, i'm not sure, but i'm leaning toward design/scheme.

Trust me I watched the entire game and could critique plays and coverages with the best of you. I saw corner blitzes, double blitzes, safety blitzes, and linebacker blitzes that were all ineffective. Even when the pressure finally got there JPW stepped out of it and found an open receiver. And judging you by your avatar Jakie you were probably too lit to know what was actually goin on by the second half.

No offense to Creer, but when you have a 230 lb RB averaging around 6 yards a carry, there is absolutely no reason in hell that he isn't in the game to tote the ball for 1 yard.

The blame lies on Roper and Fulmer not Creer.

what kind of system is that? they would all work that way preferably, but most don't, hence the creative package of blitzes in use today.

not near as much as telling me a team that rushed three or four for most of the 2nd half blizted all day long.

I would be willing to bet you that they rushed more than 4 or more occasions than they brought 3 or 4.
