As I was thinking today about out turnaround, I kept thinking about the first practice they had for South Carolina that week. Fingers posted the video/videos of that day, and I noticed something that many may not. I don’t know about you, but after seeing that first video, I may have noticed the coaches screaming, yelling, and pushing the players even harder that day. It seemed like there was more intensity than the first four or five weeks leading into that game. The change was sudden by the coaches and players as well. I believe from that point forward, we begin to see a big turnaround of Tennessee football, and leading into our bowl game. I think Pruitt and these coaches found something to work on for 2020.

There absolutely was a difference in practice atmosphere and you saw it. Everything before was ho hum and mostly going through the motions, and the record and play on the field showed that. The biggest red flag I had about Pruitt from practice post number 1 was how laid back everything seemed. I'd seen more intensity at an AYSO soccer game than at a Tennessee practice.

I don't know about the practices, but when CJP finally had enough of the refs during that game. The unsportsmanlike penalty that was called on him, was certainly the turn around moment for me for this team. They were the better team on the field , buy USCjr were doing thier best to hurt somebody. I had never, until that game, seen a more emotional CJP towards the refs, then he got flagged and the team responded.

It makes sense though, a week worth of intense practices, followed by a stand up moment by your coach.

I think at some (early) point in our season, the coaches realized that they weren't getting any leadership out of the players, so they had to provide it. Then the players figured it out.

I think Pruitt found something right during the Bama game, and realized that he could bring it during the week prepping for South Carolina. You have to wonder if he and the coaches knew they were about to change it for the good.

Did Jennings start it? I thought they had a team meeting, but I don’t remember when that was?

I also agree. That penalty sparked a firestorm.

Only on Volnation does screaming/“chewing out” equal success.
And only on VN does so called Vol fans challenge every single little tiny thing that is the least bit optimistic or positive. Its like a weird disease. I know most of you think its cool, but the rest of us over the age of 8 just think its stupid. Its like you're proud of your herpes. Just weird.

You may be on to something here. I thought Pruitt saw our kids fight to win at Bama. I think it encouraged him to "add more steam" to get through the rest of the schedule and revitalized him and the staff.

Coach Mears used to get a T to light a fire. I forget the game but we were really lacking fire in a game and nothing worked. Coach Mears walked to center court to talk to a referee. He got some words in before the ref realized where they were and hit him with a T. I remember us coming back with some fire to win though. We now have good football and bb coaches.

Gave it a like and hope you're right but I cannot overlook the fact that we played some really dog-assed competition down the stretch and I don't know what to expect going into next season.
