Think we’ll be a one and done team after this year?

I fully expect us to take a step back next season...9-3 or 10-2 at best.
Milton is good, but just doesn't have all the tools Hooker has and Jackson and Nico won't be ready yet.

That said - look out for 2024...we will dominate everyone we play and it will be EPIC.

Are you concerned about the fact we will have a "new" QB for 2024?

I say we throw Nico in from Day 1 next year. Let him get his ass whipped and learn how SEC football is played. Trial by fire. Then when he comes back in 2024 he will be battle tested and as experienced as a true sophomore can possibly be. We might take a few losses but it will be worth it. This kid is getting a lot of NIL money just to sit on the bench for a year.

The Spyre people better hope not.

Heupel will be free to get in the portal this year as much as he needs. Recruiting is improving & Tennessee is much better at development. I’m not predicting a NC but Tennessee will be competitive with anyone.

If that young man can get his decision making right, and his accuracy...oh boy!

My first reaction was “yeah yeah, one throw. Nice sample size”

Then I realized against Akron he was 4/5 and one of those throws was that absolute dime.

Sometimes the small sample size makes it more impressive.

I think Milton will ball out next year, and we might be more dangerous passing than even this year. Wouldn’t be shocked if he played himself into the first rounds of the draft. Depends on how we fill out the rest.

Even though we lose our "seasoned" QB next year, so do Bama and Georgia. And Milton is not exactly a freshman learning a new system. May be better than some fear

That's kind of the deal. If they're the real deal then they'll be at least in the mix, unlike a certain coach that is overpaid at a Texas school..

Milton is not a successful P5 QB. He has not yet done it nor will he while he’s at UT. IMO Heupel puts Milton out there next season and absorbs 2 losses before moving to the future which is Nico. I saw him play in the playoffs versus Sierra Canyon this past Friday night. They lost by a point, a missed extra point. He’s got it all and his younger brother Madden is great as well playing receiver but likely QB for Warren High next year.

I’m excited to see what the next couple of seasons will hold, but this is starting to play out like Michigan State in 2021. Mel Tucker in his second year takes the team to 11-2, everyone thinks he’s the savior and they give him $90 million, and in year 3 absolutely ***** the bed.

Now, obviously these are two different scenarios. Mel Tucker had one losing season under his belt at CU (his only season) before going to MSU. But he inherited an equally huge dumpster fire left behind by Mark Dantonio at the start of the pandemic. His story is what makes me apprehensive to throw a blank check at CJH, regardless of how this season turns out. Maybe give him a raise for 2023, but I’d still like to see one more season before any major extension talks.

One might take you serious until you said Milton doesn’t have the tools that Hooker has. Hooker is a great qb and plays well within this system. But Milton is heads and shoulders above Hooker in talent. Only thing he lacked was touch throws and in mop up he looks very much improved on that. Heupel is a great qb coach

Remember that Texas and Oklahoma will be joining SEC soon, so schedules will be much different against rivals

Convince me that I'm wrong.

" An SEC title is more challenging than a playoff game. A Tennessee, SEC title is more difficult than a National Championship."

I have no idea what next year will bring and it's way too early to predict. However it's interesting that some of yall consistently list Bamma as a loss. With major questions in Tuskalooser and no returning Heisman QB, why the doubt?

10 wins next year. Maybe more depending on how Milton develops. I want him to succeed like you wouldn’t believe. Not just because he’s on our team, but the dude has been pure class in the way that he handled losing the starting job. He’s a phenomenal athlete, just needs to work on accuracy and some decision making which I feel Heupel will work with him on during the off-season.

Other than traveling to Bama and Florida, next years schedule is much easier than this years.

Or will we be as successful next year?
Define successful. Going into the year, we’d all have been ok with 8-4. Now, another loss would make this season disappointing.

Too me it’s all how well th the transfer portal. Despite the losses, Heupel was still left with more starting talent than 50% of the SEC, and more talent than he’s ever had as a head coach.

We lose a lot based on eligibility and will lose a few early to the draft. Rebuilding both lines, and the WB position, will be the challenge. They’ve signed enough DBs, that you think they’d have hit it right by accident at least once. they’ve got to take a long hard look at the coaching at DB and ask why every position on this team has over achieved and developed except that one.

Or will we be as successful next year?

aTm is the rotating West team. In Knoxville. Virginia in Nashville is the biggest non-conference game. Florida is in the Swamp, but they're in our rearview at this point without their mental juju on us. They'll likely lose Richardson and even if he comes back, Tennessee is the better team and should win that game. None of those three games worry me.

The only games that shouldn't be considered wins are at Alabama and/or Georgia in Knoxville. But Alabama will be starting Milroe or Simpson at QB. Georgia loses Bennett and a lot of other big time players.

Tennessee should be much improved on defense. I think Milton/Jackson/Nico one will keep the offense running at a high level because Heupel is a QB Whisperer. I'll say between 10-2 and 12-0 is the outlook. I'l land on 11-1.

Something tells me we will be right in the thick of things again next year and for years to come.

I think we'll be better in some areas next season.
Florida away will be more difficult.
A&M will be better unless they have major transfer issues.
Bama will be tough as always, but I think they'll be worse but at home.
UGA will be looking for revenge after we beat them in the NC.

9-3 next season.

You mean the same tools hooker had when Milton won the job? Heupel took an average to above average QB and turned him into a Heisman contender.
Why can't he do the same for Milton?

BE QUIET, OTHER_GUY!! Milton-haters don't want to hear anything positive about the guy. They insist on perpetual reasons to dislike and distrust him. If he won the Heisman, and led us to a natty, they'd still find fault with him. Like maybe criticize him not playing LB or CB as well as QB.

We'll still be pretty good, but I'd guess we'll take a step back. We'll need to reload defensively, specifically in the front 7. Milton will be fine, we just need him to stay healthy so that Nico can put on some weight and learn the offense without having to play. I'm hoping that Keyton takes advantage of the Covid year and stays. I'd think that Bru will probably stay. A trio of Keyton, Bru, and Squirrel could have potential. Need some more O-linemen and a couple stud RBs.

9-3 type year.

If we get a lot better on back end of defense then we shoud have another great year. Milton is more Athletic than Hooker and has a bigger arm, I honestly think Milton would have not been sacked as much as Hooker was against Georgia, But saying that Hooker is a better QB rite now
