Why wasn't Martin recruiting this kid? This kid is an import an piece to the puzzle.

Martin had 4 signees and a commitment from a 5th so there was only 1 available spot. Punter was also committed to Missouri.

So, you take those 3 and add Stokes and Richardson and Martin had 5 ALL-SEC players in his lineup in the 3 year period. That's Calipari and Donovan territory. He managed to lose one of them to Georgia Tech or he would have had 4 ALL-SEC players in the lineup in 2013-14. Still didn't get into the NCAA until the players took it upon themselves to play ball and look what happened then.

Awesome to think about, isn't it? Golden, McRae, Stokes, Richardson, and Maymon. All attained ALL-SEC status during Martin's 3 years. He inherited 3 of them from Bruce and had 2 he can claim. Yep, I was wrong. It was Golden instead of Richardson when I said Cuonzo got 3 from Bruce. So we had 4 ALL-SEC players in the starting lineup this year, and would have had 5, if Golden had not transferred to Georgia Tech. Go, Vols!

Can you clarify what years and by what group (coaches, media, etc) Richardson and Golden made all-SEC teams. I don't see it in either of their bios.

I didn't consider all defensive team as all-sec and I don't think most other people do either. Also pre-season means nothing. Plus the ESPN 2nd team thing was 1 guys blog iirc, so not really all-SEC either. How did you miss that?

Is this quote behind the pay wall? Or can I find it without a subscription?

Edit: never mind. It's behind the pay wall but it's written by Rucker so that pretty much settles it for me.

Obviously with more depth, anything is easier but it is not necessarily true that it is a requirement to be "effective." Bruce pearl showed early in his tenure at tennessee that you can be effective with a press even with a limited roster.

Lots of athleticism. That's a tourney team IMO.

Interesting that as Coach T works his magic, the Vols are slowly but surely becoming a "tourney team". Certainly not beyond the realm of possibility! Let's see what the roster is at the end of the summer.

I don't have a 247 subscription so I can't see that whole article but it's written by Rucker so that tells me to take any info in it with a grain of salt. Also, do you read my link? Where it refers to McRae, Maymon, and Stokes as all-SEC but not Golden. Have you looked at the SEC website where it list the all-SEC teams for 2012 and 2013? There is no mention of Golden on either page. Have you tried searching for this ESPN.com all-SEC selection (the one that looks like it was just in a Jason King blog)? I have looked but I can't find it anywhere. I am on mobile so maybe I can't get to all the archived SEC content but it is telling to me that the only place anyone refers to Golden as all-SEC is the first paragraph of an article written by Wes Rucker (who has a bit of a rep for being a little loose with facts).

I'm not sure what your original point even was. I simply asked you to clarify your own statement (that Golden, Richardson, McRae, Maymon, and Stokes were all all-SEC at one point). You have replied a couple times now but have yet to produce any solid info to either Richardson or Golden being all-SEC. Only McRae, Maymon, and Stokes have been selected to post season all-SEC teams by the SEC and their names can be found on the SEC's website. Also, neither Golden nor Richardson list a "valid" all-SEC selection (a single ESPN writers opinion isn't good enough) on their bios. Conference all-defensive team is not all-conference, sorry.

That's all I have. You can go back to arguing with BTO now. Peace
