Think there is a anti SEC bias against the Vols, after Saturday think again.

1998..they used potatoes for cameras. Can you really tell anymore?

It’s so obvious that was a legit fumble.
Wasn’t even close to being down as he tripped on OL foot he put the ball on the ground and lost it. Nothing else touched the ground….except his feet.

Everyone points to that game but the whole season could have been different if not for a late questionable PI call on 4th down in the opening game of the season vs Syracuse.

Have you even watched the interference call at Syracuse? He leveled the WR when the ball was two yards away from getting there. It wasn’t even close to being questionable. It sucked for Syracuse because the time of the game but it was blatantly PI.

Ya, I’m a fan of calling it the same both ways. They let 2 plays go earlier in the game where we did the exact same thing. The game had been very physical and they were letting them play.
I am capable of looking at this from the other teams point of view and seeing how they would feel about it. Had that been reversed all Tennessee fans would be complaining about inconsistent officiating.

Again that could have very easily been a no call and the title goes away in the first game.

Like it or not we’re not always the victim of poor officiating.

I can think of at least a few games off the top of my head where we lose if not for a bad call. I can think of a few where we win if not for a bad call. Can you? Or are you like most fans and only remember what caused a loss?

That’s a big leap you’re taking in that last sentence based off one reply to a specific call. It was PI. I’ve seen plenty of calls go our way in the past. And plenty that cost us.

So what was the blown call on Wiiliams being covered when the replay should he obviously wasn't, about? Deboer deservedly blew a gasket over that terrible call. Probably didn't make a whole lot of difference, but refs blew it badly.
They did ….. and I loved it.

One that jumps out at me is the 2022 Bama game near the end. Vols driving and ball was intercepted in end zone and Bama player returned for like 50 yards. Essentially game over

Defensive pass interference flag was thrown about halfway through the return and saved our bacon.
It was clearly PI

What about the offensive pi bama committed that they called on us? I think it was 3rd and forever when Young heaved one up and the bama receiver mauled our db yet it was pi on us.

Can the ground cause a fumble?
The phrase “the ground cannot cause a fumble” means that when a players elbow/forearm hits the ground, and then the ball squirts out, the ball carrier was already down before the ball came out, so there’s no fumble.

That was not the case against Arkansas in 1998. The QB was standing up, tripped, tried to brace himself with an extended hand that also had the ball. He dropped the ball, and UT recovered. When the ball came out, the Arky QB’s elbow/forearm was not down. Neither was his knee, hip, shoulder, or anything. That’s a fumble.
