Alright, I need your help. This weekend I'm heading down to Columbia (for the first time) and I need to know where Vol fans hang out and what there is to do down there! I'm really looking forward to it...I just need some help! Go Vols!

What is there to do in Columbia? Usually, you can't watch football there, but this weekend you can.

You can hang out in front of a bunch of warehouses for a few hours before the game. You can also watch a pregame routine that would embarrass any half decent high school program in East Tennessee.

There are only two people in history who have been worthy of using "Sprach Zarathustra" for their entrance music. One's buried at Graceland and the other works for Vince McMahon. The South Carolina football program diminishes the song by using it.

Don't forget about the amature magic show. Where they make the Cock appear, and then opposing teams make him disappear before the start of the 4th quarter.

The thing that I've never understood about the "2001" entrance is that the band is on the field when the song is played and when the players run out . . . Problem is, if you'll notice, the band isn't actually playing anything??

If you're staying near downtown Cola and are over 30 years of age, go to "The Vista" area. Its where all the good restaraunts and bars are for the professional crowd. Lots to do here and you can park and walk around. Its off of Gervais (pronounced 'jer-Vay') Street and between Huger (pronounced 'you-Gee') and Assembly Street in downtown Cola. Enjoy and spend lots of money please! If you don't wear UT gear, you'll get better service :)

If you're under 30, go to Five Points. Thats where most of the college kids will be. Don't wear UT gear here at all.

One of my favorite places is a restaraunt/bar in Five Points called Yesterdays. Its cozy and a local favorite no matter your age. But don't expect fine dining. Just great wings, southern cooking, and beer.

Look forward to seeing you!

Has the parking downtown gotten any better? The company I work for is based out of Columbia and every time I go downtown to eat, I end up feeling like I parked in Lexington.

That's because the football teams in those cities are so similar.

That's ok, the team isn't actually about to do anything either. :birgits_giggle:

There are some places to park if you know where to go. If your staying at a hotel ask someone for help. There should be some parking off Park and Gervais. Just be patient and drive around a bit.

Supposedly, I know where to go and I still can never find a space down there. :p You're right though, the Vista and Five Points areas are pretty neat.

Yeah, we are planning to build a parking garage for the Vista area. There's also a big plan to develop the areas along the river. Thats where our new baseball stadium will be. Volunteer fans should be able to appreciate that.

Sorry about the tailgating atmosphere. I hate looking at the warehouses too. Drink enough beer and they sort of fade away. Thankfully there is a good bit of rejuvination happening in that area. You'll notice there are several high rise condos being built around the stadium now.

I was talking with somebody about that today. It's actually a very nice place to go watch a game, easy to get in and out of, easy to walk around . . . It's just 3 miles from all the atmosphere of campus and downtown.

I assume you are kidding here. It really is not that intense of a rivalry. I have worn my UT gear all over those night spots and never had an issue.

You'll find SC fans a bit punchy these days. The reality is setting in that if Spurrier can't do it for us nobody can. So, we really want to beat you guys. Just a heads up this time.

Thanks, but really not concerned. I enjoy this game every year because of the partying it offers.
