I ran a country inn in Upstate New York and I hired a professional sommelier to teach our staff about proper wine etiquette and the like. He was also a an apprentice vintner and he taught me that the best American Reislings are from the Finger Lakes region of New York. I tried to keep abreast of the tastes of the rich folks who came into the inn. In the process, I developed a taste for Reisling.
