Things That Make You Feel Old

In an interview one time, he said he learned to play guitar by "borrowing" his brother's guitar and hiding in the closet and practicing. I liked his brother and his band, but he wasn't close to what SRV was and could have been.

Yeah, it's weird what that happens. I think of songs as timeless. I guess I think of myself the same way. There's a station out here that does real classics. They do nothing past 1970. Lot of good songs after '70, but the ones before were the backbone.

I feel ya, Pops. Even now when Bobby Darin is followed by Cream on an oldie's station, it gets my attention. I'm only 36 but the difference, for me, between Oldies and Classic Rock starts around 1967.

I will never forget the moment I heard Pearl Jam on a Classic Rock station for the first time.

That had to be odd. I tend to forget how long some of these groups have been around. I watched a video of Mark Knopfler the other day and thought........when did he get so old? He was just a kid a year or so ago.

Time keeps on slippin', slippin', slippin'
Into the future

Watching recent videos by people I used to see in concert 25-35 years ago is eerie. I see them aging but I don't see it in myself. Oh, well. We're all going to be dirt and star dust at some time.

The wife and I watched Fleetwood Mac on AXS TV a few nights ago. I was still on the teet when Rumours was released but Holy Cow!, Buckinghan looked horrible!!!

Tell me about it.
That was when I realized that any attempt to cling to my youth would make me look pathetic.
It was also about the time I started griping about how fuggin stupid the younger generation is.

Yep, fml.

My first big radio gig was the night show for 104.5 The Bone in Knoxville. Even in 2002 (I was 22), I felt old when playing Pearl Jam and STP on a classic rock station.

you know you are getting older when you once had to put a finger on top of your goob to keep from pissing in your face, but now you have to put a finger under your goob to keep from pissing on your shoes.
