Things that I was told this offseason

1. Ellerbee can't recruit or develop

2. We should look at getting rid of Kelsey Pope

3. Willie isn't cutting it in recruitment or development

4. Golesh was the source of our creativity

5. Losing Nico was devastating

I must say that five games into this season has me ecstatic from what we thought we would be to who we are now.

Happy bye week everybody
Remember, those coaches are only on staff because Heupel refuses to fire his buddies.

CJH came after recruiting was closed his 1st year. So he basically didn't have a recruiting class year 1. Year 2 he focused on defense, thus the great defense they had last year. We are just now starting to see the O-line recruits being developed in Sham and Bennett. Johnson would have been a good player this year if he hadn't transferred out. I believe you will always see portal players coming in on both sides of the line every year.

Not saying this is true or not I am not that well versed in this type of thing, but sure seems things have change since he has left..

All strengths and weaknesses we or the media thought have flipped.
Supposed weaknesses (or "likely" due to unknowns): QB, WR, OL, pass rush
Supposed strengths: "defense will carry them"
The weaknesses are the best parts and the defense has some legit leaks.

You're probably right. The fact all three of our starting WRs are in the top 11 in the SEC in both receptions and receiving yards could not possibly be credited to Pope.
Your right, 4 of the 5 of Joey's INT's can be credited to Pope aswell.

Things I was telling everybody, as an Oracle of the Obvious after the last game, that Heupel still has some serious in-game time-management issues.

Well it did take 5 years to get a offensive lineman that was recruited out of high school to start a game. Fact

Oregon lost 4 starters on the OL this past offseason. They recruited 4 players that were transfers and a combined 130 starts to take over. They are a top 5 team.

It's a new world.

Yes, because he is the one not catching the ball. I keep forgetting that coaching players to catch passes should make every reception automatic. My apologies.
I understand that they are not going to catch EVERY pass. But this problem was stimming during preseason camp. There were days were the Wideouts barely caught a ball. We are still having these issues. Its not like they are getting bad passes and dropping them, no they are getting passes dropped in the bucket, at their face mask, etc. THAT is coaching and preparation. Which falls on Pope.

Football does involve math -

- 11 players on the field at a time (requires counting by team and refs)
- A field goal counts for 3 points, if you make 3 field goals you have 3*3 = 9 or use simple math to add 3 with each score
- You have a certain amount of time on the play clock before you get a delay of game penalty - requires counting backwards down to zero

And a person born in 2021 would be 4 at some point in 2025 and would be 3 until that point.

Back on topic, I think, there is coaching and there is execution within a real live game.

As most of us, including me, are not privy to watching the coaching sessions, there is no way for us to know if the issue is coaching or lack of execution of a player in a real live game situation.

Yes, we can see patterns on game day - but we don't know if said coach told player to do something and they did something different or vice versa.

But I am sure a coach does not tell a receiver - thou must drop the pass X times during the game, or tells an offensive lineman to hold or not block.
