Yep. My former doc wanted to put me on metformin when my A1C was in the high 5s. I balked. My new doc has me on Ozempic since my A1C hit 7. It’s not just the possibility of diabetes. It’s being overweight (ideal would be to lose ~25 lbs), and Oz may help my heart and kidneys. Presently, I’m “affording” the Oz with my drug plan and HSA funds. This was the second time mine's ever been tested, and it has increased since last June.
My situation is my wife stopped cooking when she got sick after my heart attack, and I got in the really bad habit of just grabbing whatever to eat at whatever hour.
I take 14 OTC/Rx scripts each morning, and 3 Rx (sometimes spread out to 10 pills) depending on what info I've tried to process that day. I do this to keep the dreams/visions/demons at bay.
I've had a general malaise in terms of motivation to do much and far too much DGAF about life issues, dehydration, swelling in my ankles, which is no excuse.
Imma have to change some things. It ain't at 8.0 yet, but it's about there.
Reference range for HGBA1C is 4.8-5.6. It does take a couple months to see a significant decrease in the A1C value if you manage your diet appropriately. I would definitely seek a second opinion if any medical professional tried to prescribe metformin for an AIC in the high 5s.Yep. I changed doctors. My diet was already modified. Since my A1C hit seven, I’ve cut out the sweet treats that I had been indulging in too often.Reference range for HGBA1C is 4.8-5.6.
