Prostate Specific Antigen. If it’s jumped by 4x, it is advisable to get a couple of scans. One or both may reveal abnormalities in the prostate, indicating the need for a biopsy.

In my biopsy procedure, they took 12 samples from various areas of my prostate. Thankfully, only one was positive for cancer. My cancer was a single tumor, for which I elected proton therapy.

My recovery continues apace. I’m feeling better every month. My PSA is 0.01.

No, but I am on immunotherapy for an autoimmune disorder. I am guessing the doc will send me for a retest after the visit. I googled (I know, dangerous) and there are a couple of things that can give a false reading, one being any kind of martial activities within 24 hrs of the blood sample. Well....nobody told me to abstain........
Anyway, I will keep it checked. Getting old is difficult these days.

My first ever PSA test was after my first stone in 1994. They had put me on antibiotics then sent me for a blood test. PSA was through the roof. After the antibiotics were over, it dropped into the low normal range.
